Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman's Space Systems - Propulsions Division is currently seeking an experienced Principal/ Sr. Principal Project Propulsion Engineer to provide Stage 1 and Stage 2 Rocket Motor Teams leadership for the Sentinel team in our Promontory, UT offices.
Role description & Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer is responsible for establishment and execution of all technical aspects of Development, Qualification, and Production of the Stage One (S1) and Stage Two (S2) Solid Rocket motors.
The Test Project Engineer, will manage the technical products and aspects associated with execution of qualification testing for the current engineering & manufacturing development (EMD) contract. Engineering aspects for full scale static test will be the primary responsibility of the Test Project Engineer. The role involves interfacing with multiple internal, customers, and supplier stakeholders to plan, review, approve, execute, and report on major SRM qualification tests.
Job Duties:
Develop program execution plans
Design authority for the SRM engineering definition for Static Test
Coordinate with both internal NG and external USG customers
Assemble and develop efficient cross functional teams across hardware teams to execute qualification static tests.
Develop engineering execution plan to meet master schedules.
Coordination and implementation of design and analysis activities associated with qualification testing
Coordinate with Systems Engineering teams to ensure effective requirement decomposition and traceability and execute requirements verification
Development of test plans and coordination of testing with test engineers
Identification of risks/mitigations and tracking to closure in Risk Tracker
Coordination and Conducting Reviews
Lead problem and failure investigations
Write technical reports
Presentations - internal and external
Ability to Travel expectation of 5% - 10%

Principal Propulsion Engineer 3 Requirements:
BS degree in Engineering required
5 Years with BS; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD or be on an NG acknowledged accelerated track for high performers.
Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of Project Leadership experience unless candidate has specific experience to solid rocket motor static test then a minimum of 6 months is required.
Candidate must have demonstrated ability to:
Plan and execute complex, fast paced projects
Communicate technically complex topics and scenarios clearly and concisely
Build relationships necessary to function efficient teams
Be capable of actively and efficiently working multiple projects
Have the ability to get work done through others
Ability to obtain a Security Clearance
Ability to work with energetic materials as a U. S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, firearms and explosives; "Employee Possessor" - required
US Citizenship - required
Preferred Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years in solid rocket motor design and manufacture experience or been directly involved in solid rocket motor static tests in some technical aspect.
Strong understanding of solid rocket motor system design, development, and manufacture
Demonstrated experience with problem solving, problem investigation teams and critical decision making skills

Strong understanding and broad application of PS engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in generating technical solutions in the absence of complete customer requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations
Demonstrated team leadership skills - leader of significant technical projects or investigations and management of multiple program tasks to schedule and budget
Experience with the proposal process
Knowledge and experience in System Engineering, Test, or similar disciplines
Sr. Principal Propulsion Engineer 4 Requirements:
BS degree in Engineering required
8 Years with BS; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Year with PhD or be on an NG acknowledged accelerated track for high performers.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
