Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman's Power/Control Systems (P/CS) Operating Unit is seeking a Program Director to lead the Advanced Power/Controls department of programs in Sykesville, MD. The P/CS OU specializes in development, production and sustainment of critical maritime and land-based programs with a focus on the integrated power and control subsystems. Advanced Power/Controls is directly responsible for programs such as SEWIP power, SPY-6 radar power, Aircraft Recovery System (ARC), and next generation power development and transition to production. This role is responsible for full P&L ownership and life-cycle execution of a diverse portfolio of complex products and programs supporting U.S. Navy, RTX/Raytheon, and other customers.
The portfolio consists of development, retrofit and sustainment of existing products, and production programs with a focus on strategy and communications across functions to ensure execution discipline, customers satisfaction and profitable growth. This opportunity offers a variety of leadership skills, executive exposure, strategy and capture experience.
This role reports to the PCS Senior Director and is based in Sykesville, MD (relocation may be offered; remote or hybrid is not available)
Key Responsibilities:
Own full P&L responsibility, including revenue growth, margin performance, cash, and forecast accuracy across the entire program lifecycle
Lead execution of development, production, and sustainment programs, ensuring cost, schedule, and technical performance are achieved in alignment with contractual and customer commitments
Drive disciplined program execution through robust EAC/CEAC management, risk and opportunity planning, affordability initiatives, and corrective action execution
Partner across functions (i.e. Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Business Development) to ensure integrated execution and effective communications
Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary leadership team, ensuring effective talent alignment, succession planning, and performance management
Serve as a primary customer interface, maintaining trusted relationships with customers like U.S. Navy, Nuclear Navy, Fleet Sustainment stakeholders, as well as key industry partners
Ensure compliance with all corporate, sector, and customer requirements, including EVMS, configuration management, cybersecurity, and export control obligations.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technical, programmatic, operations or related discipline
10 or more years of experience in technical, programmatic and/or manufacturing leadership
5 or more years of experience in a P&L role with demonstrated accountability for full life-cycle programs, including development, production, and sustainment
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams delivering complex hardware-software systems
Experience managing and negotiating government contracts, including cost-type, fixed-price, and sustainment contracts
Active DoW Secret Clearance or higher; OR DoE equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
MS degree in a relevant technical or business discipline
Experience leading maritime or shipboard systems, such as power systems, machinery control, or combat-adjacent platforms
Direct experience with U.S. Navy surface ship programs, including development and sustainment environments
Demonstrated success leading programs through design, production ramp, fielding, and long-term sustainment
Experience managing aftermarket and services portfolios, including spares, repairs, and sustainment engineering
Strong background in financial forecasting, margin improvement, and cash management at the portfolio level
Proven customer-facing leadership with the ability to operate effectively at the flag-level and senior civilian customer interface
Primary Level Salary Range: $214,100.00 - $321,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
