Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Facilities Mechanical Engineer to develop manufacturing and industrial equipment specifications for facility projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and new program facility requirements on site at our Clearfield, Utah location.

In this position you will plan, configure, and commission composites manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. Responsibilities include gathering, reviewing, and finalizing requirements data from customers to ensure requirements are met.
Job Summary including Duties and Responsibilities:

Write specifications and statements of work for modifying and procuring composite manufacturing and infostructure machinery.
Work with production customers to understand needs and document requirements.
Provide technical support to project managers during the procurement and installation process.
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to capture all technical requirements for the equipment.
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Consult with space planning on options for placement of equipment in the facility.
Be a technical resource for maintenance when troubleshooting equipment issues.
Provide project management support and cost estimating for equipment projects.
Develop strategic replacement plans for outdated equipment to address excessive maintenance, energy efficiency and establish consistency of equipment utilized across the site.
Oversee the equipment installation and commissioning to ensure all specification requirements are met.
Travel to equipment suppliers, as required, to validate progress and perform checkout testing.
Additional Job Responsibilities:

Team with other engineering disciplines, management, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure projects are cost effective, within budget, meet the design criteria, meet schedule, and coordinate release and buy off with customers.
Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs) and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, building codes, and schedules.
Reviews and estimates design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
Consult on the design new facility layouts or alterations to existing structures or construction of new structures, this will include navigating building codes and permits.
Authoring and producing design and specification of HVAC, building automation system and plumbing systems for commercial mission critical buildings.
Develop plans to orderly remove old unused equipment to help meet evolving business needs.
This position may be filled as either a Principal or Senior Principal level, dependent on qualifications.
Basic for Principal Facilities Mechanical Engineer Level Qualifications:

5 years experience with facility engineering experience and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or 3 years' experience and MS Degree in Mechanical Degree
Must be a US citizen
Must have 2 years of HVAC experience
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Basic for Senior Principal Facilities Mechanical Engineer Level Qualifications:

8 years experience with facility engineering experience and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or 6 years experience and MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or 4 years experience and PhD in Mechanical Engineering
Must be a US citizen
Must have 2 years of HVAC experience
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:

Has commercial building HVAC experience
Has a current Professional Engineering (PE) License
Has current DoD Clearance (Secret level)
Process equipment knowledge including application, implementation and interaction with other process equipment.
Machining center, automated fiber placement, laser tracker, laser projection, autoclave and oven equipment technical knowledge.
Have experience with material science and properties including metals, plastics, and composite structures.
Understanding of general compressed air systems, vacuum systems, water distribution system, natural gas systems, specialized gas systems and general fire suppression elements.
Trouble shooting, MTBF, safety components and failure analysis background helpful.
Understanding and experience with ICD705 is preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong Revit and AutoCAD drafting experience.
Experience designing and commissioning composites manufacturing equipment.
Experience supporting a Manufacturing Facility

Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources.
* Have applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).
Salary Range: $86,600.00 - $130,000.00Salary Range 2: $107,800.00 - $161,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
