Northrop Grumman defense sector is seeking a Principal (Level 3) project manager which reports to our armament systems team. This role will sit on-site at our Mesa, AZ facility.
What you'll get to do:
Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
Support Program Manager with leading all phases of the program life cycle: proposal development, startup, execution, and completion (contract closeout)
Support Program Manager with leading cross-functional Integrated Program Team (IPT) to meet program cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives
Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and program stakeholders
Participate in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions
Support the Program Manager with pre-proposal and proposal activity, including the draft and review of specifications, scope of work, and financial requirements of the contract
Manage program deliverables to ensure on-time compliance
Support the Program Manager in managing risks and opportunities such as allocation of resources, modification of schedule, or revision of contractual specifications and work with the Functions, Program Office, and Customer on resolution
Identify and respond to customer needs to support Program Growth and Opportunities
Prepare content for Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and EACs
Adherence to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards
Plan, define, establish, communicate, monitor, and control scope to ensure that only required work is performed
Manage Government Furnished Equipment supplied property or information
Desired Attributes:
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to manage a project team daily and communicate effectively with leadership regarding program status and escalations
Ability to resolve disputes and negotiate with a positive outcome while maintaining good relationships with customers and stakeholders within the organization
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree & 5 years of related experience, OR a Masters degree & 3 years of related experience, OR a PhD & 1 year of related experience
Demonstrated Project Management knowledge and experience
Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with cross functional teams internally and with customers externally

US Citizen
Must be able to obtain clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives as an Employee Possessor. Candidates hired in this role will also need to complete a Gun Control Act Self Certification form.
Able to travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
A degree in Science, Engineering, or Business
Experience in the aerospace/defense industry or within the Department of Defense
PMP® certification
* Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile methodologies
Primary Level Salary Range: $81,400.00 - $122,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
