Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for a Principal or Senior Principal Quality Engineer to join our Quality Systems Engineering (QSE) team. Qualified candidates will work as part of a team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan and be customer-support focused. Candidates must also have demonstrated ability of translating customer requirements into system/process functions and controls. This role is highly collaborative and crosses multiple sectors, meaning that the successful candidate should be adaptable, knowledgeable about quality systems, and comfortable navigating complex, enterprise-level tools.
This is a full-time remote position, with preference that the candidate lives near a Northrop Grumman facility to accommodate occasional in-person support and collaboration.
Responsibilities & tasks include:
Process Expertise - provide expert guidance and support for quality-related transactions, particularly those linked with shop floor production processes.
Continuous Improvement and Testing - develop and execute process improvements and carry out testing initiatives to support enhancements in existing systems and procedures.
Data Management Support - assist with defining, revising, and managing access to quality-related data, ensuring that data integrity is maintained.
Requirements Development and Validation - collaborate on the development of requirements and validate new tools or infrastructure to ensure they meet quality and functional standards.
Audit and System Analysis - periodically support functional audits and perform analytical work on quality management system components to identify any gaps or areas for enhancement.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer:
Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in qualify; OR a minimum of 3 years in quality with Masters degree in related STEM field
Experience with ERP and PLM systems(Examples SAP, ISE, MPLM, and CADSTAR)
Experience with Program Quality Engineering and/or Factory Floor Quality in a Defense Industry
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications for a Principal Quality Engineer::
Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) process and AS9102 First Article Inspection(FAI)
Experience with continuous improvement techniques and/or performing Quality Management System(QMS) audits
Experience performing root cause and corrective action analysis
Experience with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications.

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $113,500.00 - $170,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
