This role will report to the Senior Manager of Platforms and Automation and will be remote and/or hybrid supporting the Falls Church, VA office.

Insights & Intelligence (i2) is reimagining decision making at Northrop Grumman. As part of our Chief Information & Digital Office (CIDO), i2 works with all enterprise domains and businesses to drive our data, analytics & AI transformation.
The selected candidate will partner with data engineers, scientists, analysts, and internal stakeholders to deliver a reliable environment for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and analytics. This position is an individual contributor position with additional responsibilities related to platform adoption, stakeholder engagement, and cost efficiency.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinate the design, provisioning, and configuration of Databricks workspaces, clusters, and job schedules across development, test, and production environments.
Maintain the platform's reliability (SLAs/SLOs), capacity planning, cost-optimization, and performance tuning.
Establish automated monitoring, alerting, and incident-response processes (Databricks Jobs UI, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, etc.)
Evaluate and integrate complementary technologies (e.g., data ingestion tools, orchestration, cataloging, governance, MLflow, Spark, Delta Sharing)
Serve as a liaison between data engineering, data science, analytics, and business units.
Establish metrics to evaluate the performance and reliability of Databricks and implement improvements based on findings.
Ensure that the Data Ecosystem is compliant with relevant data regulations and security standards, implementing necessary controls for data security, access control, and compliance
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors degree; 3 Years of relevant experience with Masters degree, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of the degree requirement
Must have a minimum of 3 years experience working with or supporting Data Ecosystem tools
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience with AWS cloud
Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Must have strong communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering or a related field is preferred
Hands-on experience with Databricks workspace administration in a Gov environment
Previous Data Engineering or Platform Engineering experience
Practical knowledge of data security (encryption-at-rest/in-flight, IAM, RBAC) and governance frameworks
Databricks Associate level certification or higher
AWS or Azure Cloud Certifications
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
