Northrop Grumman - Medium Caliber Ammunition (MCA) Co-Production Team
This opportunity is ideal for a self-motivated, proactive engineer who will work in the Load, Assemble, Pack-out (LAP) production projects for the MCA co-production effort. Our engineers work in a high-visibility, fast-paced environment that demands hands-on problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, and clear communication. The role requires up to 50 % domestic and international travel and a strong attention to detail. If you enjoy varied technical challenges each day, this is the place for you.
Position Description:
Reports to the MCA Co-Production Manager and interfaces with program and support functions, day to day work will be delegated to this individual from the LAP Lead.
Works with team to design, procure, and install automated assembly equipment for MCA cartridges that will be assembled at overseas sites.
Presents work products at program reviews, proposals, or other project meetings.
Serves as a technical interface with external customers and technical organizations.
May step into additional roles as business needs dictate.
Utilizes technical understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
Travels up to 50 % domestically and internationally; deployments during implementation can be up to 30 consecutive days.
Responsibilities include:
Supports factory acceptance testing at vendor site, including running equipment and aiding in troubleshooting.
Performs installation and commissioning activities at the customer facilities in international locations.
Develops and documents production processes, procedures, improvements, and customer-training material.
Works closely with the existing systems engineering and Quality Management System (QMS) processes to ensure proper rigor and technical acumen is applied throughout the engineering lifecycle.
Communicate issues and status frequently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project customers, both internal and external.
Design or update manufacturing and assembly process documents.
Read, understand, and modify equipment/machinery and product drawings and specifications, in both production and testing environments.
Perform failure analysis of physical and functional test results when results do not meet requirements.
Basic Qualifications
To qualify for Mechanical Engineer (Level 2):
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or closely related STEM field of study plus 2 years of relevant experience as mechanical engineer, or master's degree plus 0 experience.
U.S. citizenship is required
To qualify for Principal Mechanical Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or closely related STEM field of study plus 5 years of relevant experience as mechanical engineer; or master's degree plus 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in other languages (specifically Polish)
3 to 6 years of relevant professional experience.
Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically focused in assembly or automation.
Familiarity with Design of Equipment, Tooling, Process Development and Manufacturing Process.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with engineering design software applications such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, and/or Creo
* Familiarity with automation, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
