This position will be located in Commerce, California.
This requisition can be filled at a level 2 Material & Process Engineer /or level 3 Principal Materials & Processes Engineer.

Provide effective solutions to production metallics issues
Generates test plans & reports
Analyzes, researches, designs and develops metallic materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems
Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications
Material analyses, including failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications
Leads Tiger Team efforts in RCCAs related to metallurgical issues, presenting status to stakeholders and customers
Perform drawing reviews to ensure M&P requirements are satisfied
Basic Qualifications - Level 2 Materials & Process Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience with a background in metallic materials; OR a Master of Science (MS) degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
Experience with metal fabrication and design
Experience with repair processes for metal materials
Experience with the qualification of metals or metallurgical processes
Experience with material selection
Experience with soldering, brazing, or welding, forging, material selection, and/or heat treatment.
Basic Qualifications - Level 3 Principal Materials & Process Engineer:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience with a background in metallic materials; OR a Master of Science (MS) degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience with a background in metallic materials.
Experience with metal fabrication and design
Experience with repair processes for metal materials
Experience with the qualification of metals or metallurgical processes
Experience with material selection
Experience with soldering, brazing, or welding, forging, material selection, and/or heat treatment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in discipline of Materials Science or similar
Subject Matter Expertise in Metals joining (soldering, brazing, or welding), forging, advanced material selection, and/or heat treatment.
Experience with weld and/or heat treatment of Titanium alloys
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to collaborate in a team environment
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
