Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer Level 3 based out of Sunnyvale, CA.
This position is full-time onsite.
You will support and integrate into a marine propulsion development program through concept, preliminary and final design. The marine propulsion architecture consists of steam turbines, associated valves, linkage, couplings, reduction gears, ancillary equipment, shipboard tooling and manufacturing tooling. The program requires manufacturing input on functional design considerations, design for manufacturability/assembly and design for schedule/cost.
What You'll get to Do:
Propose new/improved manufacturing processes, assembly features/methods and tooling fixtures with the intent of reducing manufacturing time and cost
Provide input to develop efficient manufacturing process flows/sequences and optimize production area layouts
Make recommendation for manufacturing continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing efficient production processes
Perform Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) studies on new product development initiatives and provide recommendations for implementation
Perform Design-to-Cost (DTC) assessments of new and existing products while maintaining performance
Integrate with and support the Integrated Product Team (IPT) consisting of Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, and Global Supply Chain to meet program goals
Full-time Day Shift support (5 days/week)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of relevant work experience
Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Experience with mechanical assembly processes
Experience in continuous improvement
Experience in technical writing
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering
Active Secret Clearance
Experience with propulsion and power plant machinery or experience building large equipment structures
Experience with GDT control plan development and execution
Experience utilizing a modern ERP system
Manufacturing equipment, product testing and facility operational experience
Experience leading technical projects requiring project planning, scheduling, resource identification and financial management
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)
Experience with applying Lean Six Sigma principles on low volume, high mix processes
Experience with installation of new equipment and/or processing in a highly controlled environment
Experience with materials and heat treatment of materials
An understanding of various manufacturing processes for high value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, machined components, and welded fabrications is desired
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
