As a Manager Mission Architect Engineering 2 located in Dulles, VA, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
The new manager will be responsible for managing technical personnel in our department, focusing on Mission Engineering, with a size of approximately 15 team members. Will ensure qualified and experienced personnel (and supporting design and analysis tools and other resources) are assigned to meet the staffing needs of programs, and track and execute peer reviews for major program events. The role includes all aspects of staff management, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching/mentoring, career development, performance management, compensation management, and separation of assigned employees.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

This role is 2 parts: approximately 20% functional management role and approximately 80% direct charge program role. The direct program work will include System Engineering (SE) technical work and/or leadership, e.g., IPT leadership (Lead or Deputy Lead and/or CAM), technical lead, and/or SE mission. The Functional role will include providing cross program collaboration to give Operating Units opportunities to leverage technologies or designs that may not have been previously considered.

As a program technical contributor, the candidate will support the development, deployment and sustainment of missions.
Developing space system architecture models using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies; deriving, allocating and maintaining system requirements and specifications; research into modeling & simulation systems and approaches for future system-of-system integration
Developing high-level CONOPS for system use cases and integration efforts
Developing, updating and maintaining design documentation
Working closely with orbital dynamics and guidance, navigation and control subject matter experts and will span the entire system lifecycle: concept, design, development, test, operations and sustainment.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience including people management experience - OR - Master's Degree with 6 years of professional experience including people management experience
Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
Experience in Systems Engineering for mission critical space applications
Proficiency in related engineering programs, Microsoft Office or equivalent document generation programs, Microsoft SharePoint or equivalent collaboration tool
Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
Experience leading, supporting, and/or operating activities for space missions within National Security Space
Preferred Qualifications:

Active or current TS/SCI Clearance
Experience in RPO mission design, satellite ground software, distributed modeling & simulation and/or wargaming
Experience developing career development plans for staff at various experience levels.
Experience with the complete space mission development life cycle
Multi-discipline space engineering experience interfacing with team members in any of the traditional Spacecraft subsystems
Experience in Cameo EA, including logical, physical and functional architecture
Experience in Python, STK, Matlab, AFSIM

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
