As a Full-Stack (Front-End Focused) Software Engineer (Level 3 or 4) located in Manhattan Beach, CA, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.
The Western Region Software Engineering organization comprises over 600 highly skilled professionals, including Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Database Administrators, and Network Engineers, at all levels-ranging from early-career engineers to senior chief engineers and architects. The Full-Stack (Front-End Focused) Software Engineer will support a critical national security mission involving both development and operational components. The team is composed of software developers organized into Agile Scrum teams led by Product Owners and Scrum Masters. Many of our programs are agile, fast-paced, high-performing, proactive, and collaborative, fostering an environment that welcomes new ideas, technologies, and tools to benefit the mission, increase productivity, or enhance product quality.
The selected candidate will be responsible for identifying and proposing improvement ideas related to technology, processes, architecture, or tooling. Ideal candidates are fast learners who can quickly familiarize themselves with existing codebases. Additionally, the Full-Stack Software Engineer will provide support for integration, testing, deployment, and operations and maintenance (O&M) defect resolution in a secure facility on a part-time basis. This ensures that all team members gain insight into the entire software lifecycle and develop a deep understanding of the full program mission.

Basic Qualifications - Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) discipline with 5+ years of software development experience; Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of experience; or Ph.D. with 1+ years of experience
Active DoD Top Secret clearance required at the time of application, with the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an SCI access and Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly)
Experience with Agile principles, processes, and tools
Hands-on experience developing front-end applications using two or more of the following: TypeScript, React, Lit, Node.js, or Angular
Strong proficiency in developing object-oriented applications in Java
Proven experience developing applications in a containerized architecture utilizing Docker and Kubernetes
Experience developing applications on a Linux/Unix operating system
Basic Qualifications - Sr. Principal Full-Stack Software Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) discipline with 8+ years of software development experience; Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6+ years of experience; or Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience
Active DoD Top Secret clearance required at the time of application, with the ability and willingness to obtain and maintain an SCI access and Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly)
Experience with Agile principles, processes, and tools
Hands-on experience developing front-end applications using two or more of the following: TypeScript, React, Lit, Node.js, or Angular
Strong proficiency in developing object-oriented applications in Java
Proven experience developing applications in a containerized architecture utilizing Docker and Kubernetes
Experience developing applications on a Linux/Unix operating system
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Active SCI access and previously completed Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly).
Previous engineering or software development experience in the space industry.
Strong ability to effectively communicate and present technical concepts to program management and customers.
Proven ability to write clear, detailed, and effective technical documentation.
Experience sharing knowledge, providing mentorship, and working in a collaborative team environment.
A minimum of 3 years of experience developing applications on Linux/Unix operating systems, including proficiency with OS commands and shell scripting.
Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed software systems.
Demonstrated ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.
Active Security+ certification (or equivalent)

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
