Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Space Systems is searching for an experienced Systems Engineer - Level 5 to join the Program Engineering Management (PEM) team supporting the Avionics Design Group (ADG) within the Launch Vehicles (LV) business unit located in Chandler, AZ.
This position is 100% onsite. Relocation Assistance may be available.
This role will utilize a broad, and deep background in the Aerospace & Defense industry with experience leading multi-disciplined engineering teams to complete avionics development programs.
Essential Functions:

Manage engineering development programs, including integrated scheduling and program execution

Provide technical leadership of the multidisciplinary engineering team to support the manufacturing, test, and troubleshooting of NG LV common avionics components in time to meet operations deadlines

Ensure that technical issues are resolved in timely fashion to minimize disruption of production activities and leads efforts to streamline and improve efficiency

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to solve complex issues related to engineering and program management

Collaborate with other NG functional groups outside of ADG, including Configuration Management, Quality, Mission Assurance, Procurement and Manufacturing

Provide written and verbal status reports to internal management, communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel

Assess and evaluate the life cycle of avionics products and how they are implemented in the Launch Vehicle

Work with LV managers and directors to propose and execute new avionics design efforts.

The ability to define, document, analyze, trace, prioritize, and confirm requirements throughout the entire program life cycle

Technical Performance:

* The ability to establish and apply a technical performance baseline to monitor and compare key program technical performance measures, assess program and product status, and take appropriate action to maintain conformance with the baseline

Scope, Configuration & Change:

The ability to effectively plan, define, establish, communicate, monitor, and control scope to ensure that all of the work required and only the work required is performed

Risk & Opportunity:

The ability to address program uncertainty through an organized and analytical forward looking approach that identifies risks and opportunities, determines appropriate handling plans, and manages, controls, and communicates risks and opportunities throughout the lifecycle of the program

Program Integration:

The ability to identify, orchestrate, coordinate and controls the management activities and processes that integrate program interdependencies throughout their life cycle to achieve successful program completion

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 10 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience

U.S. Citizenship is required

Ability to obtain US DoD Secret security clearance is required

Ability to travel 10% is required

Directly related experience in Program Management and Avionics/Electronics development

Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex technical problems

Extensive experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via Earned Value Management System (EVMS), including Control Account Management

Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes and configuration management

Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's of Science Electrical Engineering, or Master's in Engineering, or Business Administration Degree

Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher

Familiarity with the LV developed common hardware products

Understanding of MDA MAP and PMAP requirements

Experience with NG Launch Vehicles internal standards, processes & digital tools

Experience working in an Agile development environment

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
