Reporting to the Vice President, Legislative Affairs, the Director is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic approach to policy priorities for the company; overseeing advocacy strategies and events; and managing relationships with key trade associations.
This position can be performed at our Washington, DC or Falls Church, VA locations.
In this capacity, the Director will lead a team to identify key policy-related issues and develop and execute the strategic approach to address those priorities. The Director will also oversee execution of external advocacy-related activities in partnership with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Working with a team, the Director will be responsible for overseeing the company's political action committee and legislative compliance activities.
The successful candidate must have the ability to synthesize complex policy issues, have experience executing advocacy strategy, and be an effective team leader who can collaborate well across all levels of stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in related discipline and minimum of 10+ years' experience in government relations, legislative branch, or policy-related activities; or a Master's degree and 8 years of experience
Background in aerospace and defense-related policy issues and knowledge of the legislative process.
Proven ability to analyze complex public policy issues and develop legislative strategy in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team and establish and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Experience communicating with elected officials, senior leaders, and key decision makers.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior management experience leading a team of experienced professionals.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing advocacy strategies and activities.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Experience with compliance and/or political action committee activities.
Relationships with defense and aerospace partners and supplier companies, as well as trade associations.
Ability to travel up to 25% of time.
* Active Top Secret security clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $242,100.00 - $363,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
