In this role, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Canon-Based Air Defense (CBAD) program, a high-profile effort within the Defense Systems sector. CBAD integrates sensors, battle management command and control, and effectors leveraging battle-proven cannons and a suite of advanced ammunition, ready to defend against subsonic cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from conflict start to finish .

The successful candidate will support the Chief Engineer in their role as the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (systems/hardware/software/integration/test) and will help lead a multi disciplined engineering team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements. The Deputy Chief Engineer will need to have a foundational understanding of all program disciplines and their interconnectivity to be capable of filling in for the Chief Engineer when required.
The Deputy Chief Engineer can be onsite at any of the following locations Huntsville, AL, Plymouth, MN, Fairfax, VA, Chandler, AZ, or Colorado Springs, CO.
Roles and Responsibilities

Coordinates requirements development, hardware/software design, verification, and validation activities.
Manages technical deliverables and coordinates technical review boards to review decisions with broad program impact.
Ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliant with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Maintains cognizance over technical activities within program sub-teams and ensures horizontal integration of the best engineering practices across the company.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field and 12 years of related technical experience; Master's degree in a STEM field and 10 years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field and 8 years of related technical experience
Active DoD Secret clearance
Experience as SME, Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Chief Engineer, or other engineering leadership role that demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrate experience working in ambiguity, deriving requirements, and making decisions quickly to align with high-level strategy
Experience leading teams of integrated engineering disciplines throughout the lifecycle of development of a large and complex system
Experience coordinating with external suppliers
Experience briefing senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

Military experience - Cruise Missile defense
Demonstrated experience in designing, building, testing, and deploying mission critical military systems
Experience developing a large and complex system for a US DoD Customer
Radar detection tracking and counter measure
Experience engineering management multi disciplined team
* Experience coordinating directly with customers and end users for requirements development and detailed design
Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
