As a Principal Software Engineer within the Corporate Functions (CF) Digital Employee Experience (DEE) organization, you will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and product leaders to design and deliver scalable, reliable platforms that power Nike's most critical digital and data products. You will also partner closely with UX designers to ensure delivery of high-quality, user-centric designs and implementations. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will work closely with stakeholders across product, architecture, AI/ML, and governance to support a wide range of experiences. Your contributions will help unify the employee experience across domains while ensuring governance compliance, breaking down silos, and driving alignment across globally distributed teams and leadership levels throughout Global Technology. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a full-stack Principal Software Engineer to join the Global Technology Corporate Functions (CF) team to deliver scalable software systems, guide engineering teams across the organization, and advise technology leaders on system design. The ideal candidate will have full-stack development experience and strong front-end and back-end engineering expertise. This role requires exceptional communication skills, proven experience in data design and implementation, and a track record of delivering results. The individual should be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while collaborating with engineers, product management, organizational leadership, and business partners.

  • Exceptional written and technical communication skills, with a proven ability to establish and promote best practices in complex environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing, architecting, and leading technical projects from concept through execution
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud architectures, preferably AWS and Serverless stack
  • Hands-on experience developing solutions using React and Node.js (TypeScript)
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform
  • Deep understanding of best practices for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions and Jenkins• Experience using RESTful and Graph API
  • Familiarity with data pipelines (preferably Spark/Databricks)
  • Understanding of MLOps concepts and practices (preferably Databricks)
  • Knowledge of LLM systems, including custom-built (Langchain or similar) and managed (Copilot Studio, OpenAI Custom GPT, Databricks Genie or similar) offerings
  • Ability to create clear and comprehensive diagrams (application architecture, infrastructure layout, integration patterns) using industry-standard tools (e.g., Lucidchart, Visio, draw.io) and frameworks (UML, C4 model)
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade integrations, applying best practices for APIs, messaging, security, testing, and observability

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

In this role, you will build and deliver scalable software solutions focused on Digital Employee Experience. You will design, implement, and integrate new technologies and evolve our EX. You will contribute to all aspects of software engineering from ingestion, transformation, and consumption and help design and build reusable frameworks, automated workflows, and libraries at scale to support products. You will also participate in architecture and design discussions to process and store high-volume data sets. Additionally, you will collaborate with designers and product managers to translate UX/UI designs into interactive web experiences, contribute to front-end architecture decisions, and advocate for scalable, maintainable code.
