Lead, Government & Public Affairs - Shanghai
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced Government & Public Affairs professional to support Nike's engagement with key municipal and district-level government stakeholders in Shanghai. This role requires a strong individual contributor with disciplined execution, sound business judgment, a deep understanding of local government dynamics, and the ability to build trusted relationships with proactivity, composure, and discretion.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, commercially aware, and skilled at stakeholder engagement. He/she will provide frontline insight into the local regulatory environment, help support business growth, and protect Nike's corporate interests. As a trusted team player, he/she will support GC GPA senior leaders with counsel and sound judgment on local government affairs of strategic and material importance to the business.
Essential Requirements
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in government affairs, public affairs, or external stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working in multinational companies, ideally in the consumer goods and/or retail sectors.
• Strong execution capability, business acumen, agility, and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders, with strong collaboration skills across GC functions.
• Fluent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin, with working-level English proficiency.
Preferred Experience
• Established network with district- and municipal-level government stakeholders in Shanghai.
• Deep understanding of Shanghai's policy environment, culture, and government operating practices.
• Experience managing day-to-day consumer-facing issues in partnership with cross-functional teams.
• Experience coordinating and supporting executive meetings with local government leaders.
• Prior experience working in or with government agencies is a strong plus.
What You'll Work On
As the Lead, Government & Public Affairs - Shanghai, you will help strengthen Nike's local government engagement, protect business continuity, and enable effective operations in Shanghai.
• Represent Nike in working-level engagements with government stakeholders, as needed.
• Maintain and deepen relationships with key counterparts in Yangpu and Jing'an district governments.
• Identify and help secure applicable government subsidies and policy support.

• Partner with relevant functions to manage important government inquiries, including those involving customs and tax authorities.
• Leverage government support to manage and mitigate day-to-day issues, minimizing disruption to Nike Direct business operations, and to support Marketing/Marketplace initiatives.
• Maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with Legal, Quality Assurance, Business Integrity, Finance/Tax, and Sales teams.
