Business Development Representative, Japan

We have an opening on our Business Development Team that is a great step into the exciting world of tech sales! In this role, you will research, prospect, and contact leads to generate qualified sales opportunities for our Account Executive team. You will develop deep knowledge of the risk and compliance industry and build skills for further career growth, demonstrating excellent communication skills, persistence, and the ability to overcome obstacles and achieve assigned goals.
This role will begin as a fully remote position for candidates based in Japan. Once our Tokyo office is established, the expectation is that the role will transition to an in-office arrangement. Candidates should be comfortable with this transition and be located within commuting distance of the future office location.

What you'll do:
- Exceed your monthly quota by utilising your ability to assess a prospect's "fit" and book meetings
- Generate qualified business opportunities by cold calling, emailing, and engaging in conversations with prospects
- Document, track and monitor all leads and activities in Salesforce
- Utilise smart, targeted discovery questions to speak knowledgeably with decision makers such as VPs, Directors and C-suite personnel
- Acquire in depth knowledge of our full range of risk and compliance solutions and services, conveying that knowledge to potential customers, and adhering to company messaging and positioning
- Nurture relationships with longer-term prospects
- Conduct territory development best practices with email, phone and chat using sales enablement tools and technology to connect with new prospects and current customers
- Attend in-person events, trade shows, and customer-facing engagements in Japan - including on-site participation and follow-up with leads.
What you'll need:
- 1 year's sales, telemarketing or lead generation experience is a plus
- 1 year's experience working in SaaS or technology is highly preferred
- Fluent in business-level Japanese, with the ability to communicate effectively with local Japanese customers, both verbally and in writing
- Strong business-level English communication skills, to collaborate effectively with global teams
- Deep understanding of Japanese culture, etiquette, and communication styles
- Experience using Salesforce is a plus
- Interest in cloud computing, technology, and SaaS offerings
- A tenacious work ethic with a desire to have a career in sales
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a strong desire to achieve monthly quotas and maintain a high activity output
- A modest yet assertive and confident demeanour with empathy and compassion
- A curious and creative mindset
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification recognized by the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT)
