Field Shooter/Editor (contract)

OVERVIEW
We’re looking for a highly skilled video shooter and editor to work alongside Macy Gilliam on her Out There series, especially on field shoots. This role will begin as a project based position focused on short-form vertical video, with the potential to grow into a full-time partnership supporting all of Macy’s content.
You need to be comfortable shooting unscripted content that moves quickly between extreme spaces with difficult lighting and sound, and constrained spaces. Not only can you film this content with technical skill, you also have an eye for the story as it’s coming together in real time, and can help shape the final product from behind the camera.

The main tasks you’ll head up are shooting and editing. You should have a strong point of view and visual style - but you’ll also work together with Macy on pitching and outlining potential videos, finding guests, and shaping the narrative arc of the story after the shoots are done. The ideal candidate will provide a 1+1=3 level of creative collaboration with Macy in a way that is directly additive to Macy’s vision of Out There.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in creating highly performant video content for social media platforms and YouTube
- Strong visual style and point of view
- Ability to shape a story arc
- Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, not necessarily After Effects BUT it would be nice to have)
- Self-starter attitude (can create a video from start-to-finish), with the ability to operate in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to operate in a high-pressure and fast paced environment (the internet moves quick!)
- Located in NYC
COMPENSATION $40-50/hr commensurate with experience.
