We're seeking someone to join our team as a Senior Corporate Controller.

Global Corporate Controllers department is responsible for Morgan Stanley's financial records, ensuring that the assets and liabilities of the Firm are properly controlled, and providing accurate and timely financial information both to senior management and externally to statutory and regulatory bodies. The Budapest team is a vital part of the global operations, representing more than 95% of the team globally.

This role will lead and oversee critical financial controlling activities within the Global Support Services Controllership. It requires strong technical accounting expertise, strategic leadership, and operational excellence to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The position plays a pivotal role in month-end close processes, issue escalation, and driving continuous improvement across global finance operations.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Month-End Close Leadership:
    • Actively participate in and supervise the month-end close process to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with corporate and statutory requirements.
    • Review and validate journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Governance & Escalation:
    • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex accounting and controlling issues.
    • Ensure resolution of discrepancies and adherence to internal controls and compliance standards.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing controlling team within GSSC.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Drive automation and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
    • Implement best practices in global controlling and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with regional finance teams, corporate accounting, and business units to align on financial objectives and reporting standards.
    • Communicate effectively with senior leadership on key financial metrics and risks.


What you'll bring to the role:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA or equivalent certification is an advantage.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a global or shared services environment.
    • Proven track record in managing month-end close and complex accounting processes.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Excellent knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP accounting standards.
    • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills:
    • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Ability to lead through change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technology Skills:
    • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
    • Familiarity with automation tools and digital finance solutions is a plus.


Nice to have:
  • Experience in global shared services or multinational corporate environments.
  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical standards.
