Python Developer
We're seeking someone to join our Global Sustainable Technology team as a Python Developer in Non-Financial Risk Technology to build global firm best-in-class data onboarding and processing, timeliness, completeness, and accuracy reporting and alerting, improve scalability of data quality and pipeline with AI techniques, innovate in the broader GSO Tech stack, and contribute broadly to the firmwide technology program.

This is a Python Developer position at Director level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

What you'll do in the role:
- Deliver complex projects and features end to end, from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Develop and maintain platform services, primarily using Python, while contributing across the full stack, including Angular/React front ends.
- Manage and optimize relational databases (RDBMS), including schema design, query performance, and data quality.
- Own releases and deployments, supporting CI/CD pipelines, SDLC controls, and change management processes.
- Participate in platform support activities, including incident management, root cause analysis, bug fixes, and continuous improvements.
- Improve application performance, maintainability, observability, documentation, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, technical leads, and cross-functional teams to deliver shared outcomes.
Technical Quality & Collaboration:
- Contribute to the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions.

- Promote engineering best practices through code reviews, design discussions, debugging, performance tuning, and knowledge sharing.
- Demonstrate adaptability across backend, frontend, and database technologies as business priorities evolve.
- Partner with teams across the organization to resolve dependencies and drive successful delivery.
- Utilize AI-assisted software development tools responsibly and effectively throughout the development lifecycle.
- Technology stack you will work with:
- Backend: Python and general-purpose server-side development.
- Database: Relational databases (RDBMS)
- Job scheduling & automation: Batch/workload scheduling and automated background jobs.
- Version control & collaboration: Git-based workflows, branching, and pull-request reviews.
- Delivery & quality: CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, automated testing (unit and end-to-end), and static analysis/code-quality tooling
What you'll bring:
- Solid grasp of software design principles and design patterns, with a focus on clean, maintainable code.
- Working knowledge of basic system design - structuring components, APIs, and data flows for reliable, scalable solutions.
- A track record of feature implementation and end-to-end ownership, from design through production.
- Comfort with code optimization and refactoring to improve performance and reduce technical debt.
- Understanding of beneficial and appropriate AI use in the software development lifecycle.
