Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what's important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The operations department consists of a team of professionals that focuses on the overall operations of Parametric. This group ensures the production process is complete from start to finish and lines up with the goals and functions of other departments within the firm. Examples include supervising, organizing, and completing daily production, measuring and evaluating daily workload, and providing services to ensure the business runs as smoothly and effectively as possible.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This position will lead, manage and coordinate the daily operations processing of corporate action activity by the corporate actions team. This team is responsible for the managing both mandatory and voluntary corporate actions functions, processing corporate actions in appropriate systems, and being a subject matter expert on corporate actions for other teams at Parametric. This position requires a hands-on leader with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, provide excellent customer service, motivate the team and develop individual talent.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and sense of urgency. This is a volume-intensive, data-driven role overseeing the administration and daily processing of corporate actions related to over 200,000 client portfolios, both domestic and global. Portfolio strategies are typically a single asset class, of which a majority are equity and additional focus on fixed income, derivatives and multi-asset portfolios continuing to grow in importance. The person in this role must feel comfortable with demonstrating best-practices in work at all times, managing expectations and accountability, and work closely with other department heads to ensure that deliverables are met. This position will work closely with vendors, technology, and portfolio management departments to build out a scalable operating model while reducing risk.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the day-to-day functions of all corporate action processing
  • Review of corporate action related control processes
  • Maintains an excellent knowledge of firm and industry best practices and controls
  • Hold team accountable to best practices and controls even in high-pressure situations
  • Proactively challenging the team's output to identify opportunities for improvement and feedback
  • Maintain strong understanding of internal and external processes upstream & downstream
  • Step in and perform daily responsibilities as needed with consideration for control processes to which that may preclude the supervisor performing
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to develop and implement tactical and strategic solutions to support business objectives
  • Train, coach and mentor staff while maintaining a positive motivational emphasis
  • Ensure the team is adequately staffed on a day-to-day basis, and that all employees are trained, and cross-trained to maintain coverage depth required to meet business needs
  • Review and recommend new methods and procedures to make daily operations in the department more efficient, effective and controlled
  • Performing a wide array of developmental functions, including interviewing, performance appraisals, development planning, and corrective action/termination
  • Driving execution of large and small scale department projects and initiatives including technology components
  • Point of escalation for direct reports, colleagues, internal clients & external clients
  • Effectively escalate issues to senior management and other impacted teams
  • Understanding of key department processes around corporate actions, restriction management, and security maintenance
  • Working with large datasets in MS Excel and other technical applications. Must be able to manage and organize datasets of 100,000+ rows of data
  • Responsible for managing small and large scale projects within the department
  • Understand multiple processes and systems capabilities
  • Perform analysis of data, metrics and processes to support advocacy for process improvements
  • Host relationship review meetings with vendors and custodians to identify opportunities to leverage their external resources to increase scale and reduce risks
  • Represent team in internal and external meetings and cover manager's responsibilities as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Demonstrated leadership, management and supervisory skills
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate actions
  • Bachelor's (4yr) degree w/ concentration in finance or accounting
  • 5+ years' experience in the financial services industry
  • Proven experience as a leader and developing staff
  • Provide feedback and accountability while motivating in a positive manner
  • Well organized self-starter with the ability to analyze information and support the staff
  • Strong professionalism, communication and project management skills
  • Excellent organization, time management and planning skills
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent technical and documentation skills
  • APX, Bloomberg, and Markit CA SaaS, MCA experience a plus
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and handle large volumes of email correspondence
  • Experience with multicurrency investment accounting preferred
  • Ability to successfully thrive in ambiguous conditions

Salary range for the position: $78,000 - 140,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
