Morgan Stanley's Wealth Management Risk division is seeking a Vice President to join the Risk Communications Central Review Unit (RCCRU) within Client Segment Risk. This role will be a key contributor to the group's transformation, combining responsibility for (i) central review and oversight of retail marketing and communications materials and (ii) the innovation, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that enhance and streamline these review processes. The incumbent will apply deep subject expertise in communications with the public to help ensure marketing communications are compliant and aligned with firm and regulatory requirements, while also partnering with stakeholders to design and operationalize AI-enabled controls and workflows.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on regulatory requirements including SEC, FINRA, and other self-regulatory organizations governing communications with the public.
  • Lead and drive AI initiatives focused on marketing and communications content, including generative AI and advanced analytics, to create efficiencies while maintaining strong adherence to firm and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify high-impact AI use cases, develop product strategies, and oversee delivery and integration of AI tools into existing workflows.
  • Incorporate user feedback and continuously improve AI tools and processes to enhance outcomes and risk management.
  • Assist with regulatory exams, inquiries, internal audits, and targeted assessments related to marketing communications and AI governance.
  • Collaborate across functions to define controls for prompt design, output review, disclosure, and auditability of AI-generated content.
  • Monitor AI content performance and risk indicators, including risks such as hallucinations, bias, toxicity, and misleading information.
  • Support governance and compliance frameworks for AI use in marketing and communications, ensuring responsible AI principles are embedded. Manage project delivery and stakeholder engagement, coordinating with business partners, Legal, Compliance, Technology, and Risk teams to ensure successful adoption and alignment.
  • Review and issue final supervisory approval of retail marketing communications (both external and internal).
  • File retail communications with FINRA's Advertising Regulation Department, respond to comments, and implement necessary revisions.
  • Escalate issues concerning business initiatives, projects, materials, or compliance concerns as appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience building, implementing, and operating AI/ML or large language model (LLM)-based solutions in real-world workflows.
  • Strong ability to explain AI outputs and risks to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
  • Experience implementing human-in-the-loop review systems and designing workflow user experiences that support oversight and control.
  • Deep knowledge of SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory requirements related to communications with the public.
  • Prior Risk, Compliance, or Regulatory experience (minimum 2 years) focused on marketing and communications.
  • Proficient understanding of industry and regulatory focus areas such as client testimonials, ESG and cryptocurrencies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and persuasion skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise prudent judgment in resolving complex issues independently or as part of a team.

Required Education, Licenses, and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Generative Artificial Intelligence tools and AI risk management frameworks.
  • Active FINRA Licenses: Series 7 required, and Series 24 preferred; willingness to obtain Series 24 and Series 4.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.

Preferred Experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in deploying AI/ML solutions within operational workflows, demonstrating the ability to translate AI capabilities into practical business applications.
  • Experience partnering with technology teams on AI tool integration and governance.
  • Subject matter expertise in reviewing a broad range of marketing and communications content, including retail and institutional communications.
  • Prior experience in financial services or related regulated environments.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $120,000 and $165,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
