We are seeking a high-potential Lending Transactor to help grow our Lending Transactors Team serving high net worth clients in our Wealth Management group. The Lending Transactor is responsible for advising on large and complex securities-based lending transactions for HNW borrowers in the Private Bank Group. The Lending Transactor will collaborate closely with the Head of HNW Lending Transactions and Senior Lending Transactors to support the needs of HNW clients, Private Bankers and Financial Advisors. He or she will establish key partnerships with Sales, Risk, Legal and other key constituents to ensure that risk is appropriately managed while supporting the Firm's goal of providing quality private banking solutions to its HNW clients.

Responsibilities include managing the securities-based lending process, pipeline, loan quality, and deal structuring of complex securities transactions for clients within the high-net-worth space, ensuring proper controls and procedures exist for timely and accurate processing of loan reviews while maintaining an environment focused on credit quality, service, accuracy and efficiency. Role will also provide valuable insight and support for evolution of the SBL product offering and partner with product management and support teams to deliver First Class solutions for this important client segment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Private Bankers and Risk to execute and close securities-based loans, including Margin and bank loans, for HNW clients.
  • Proactively manage the securities-based lending underwriting pipeline and workflow to ensure service levels are achieved and production is managed across the team.
  • Manage workflow and monitor daily productivity, ensure proper controls and procedures are documented, maintained and followed.
  • Prepare and issue senior management reports regarding sophisticated liquidity analyses of securities-based loans.
  • Make recommendations to enhance credit policy to meet business needs.
  • Establish a reputation of execution and excellence and gain confidence of the Firm partners.
  • Develop and present creative and intelligent solutions and advise in structuring client transactions or offer constructive alternatives.
  • Understand the securities-based lending competitive environment and develop strategies to retain and win new business.
  • Organize, manage, control and evaluate standards and controls necessary to ensure the timely and accurate execution of decisions.
  • Work with Private Bankers, Financial Advisors and members of the client's inner circle to advance their loan request i.e. business managers, family office, CPAs and others as needed
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Private Bankers and Financial Advisors to execute and close securities based loans for non-resident HNW clients.
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Sales Managers, Private Bankers, Risk, Legal, Operations and other partners in support of the Firm's goal of providing private banking products to clients. • Develop and negotiate structuring recommendations within framework of the Firm's credit policy and philosophy.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of internal clients including independent analyses of client financial information for securities collateral to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Assist in the development of long-term product and service roadmaps for marketplace differentiation and new revenue potential.
  • Manage Exception Pricing Approval for securities-based lending products in accordance with Pricing Exception Guidelines.
  • Cover all securities-based lending requests for non-resident clients including single/concentrated stock/Restricted stock/ requests that can be met within SBL/Margin Product Programs .
  • Identify gaps to customer experience, translate them to actionable projects and deliver on enhancements.
  • Build product awareness and understanding among Financial Advisors, Field Management and Private Bankers regarding the relevancy and application of specific products within HNW Lending.
  • Additional responsibilities as required by management.


Position Responsibilities:
  • Minimum 7 years of securities-based lending experience required
  • Private Bank experience preferred
  • Formal credit training preferred
  • BA or BS required. MBA or JD preferred

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $190,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
