Financial (Legal Entity) Controller - Associate Mumbai

The Legal Entity Controller team has responsibility for the financial management of entities in Morgan Stanley's legal entity structure. The Mumbai LEC team is an integral part of the global Legal Entity Control (LEC) organization. This role will have responsibility for a portfolio of entities in various jurisdictions and will be focused on driving forward the legal entity closure programme, a key Firm initiative aimed at simplifying and rationalizing the overall corporate structure. They will be a key business partner for various stakeholders on their portfolio of entities. This role will report to a Director in the Mumbai LEC team and work globally across the full organisation.

What will you be doing?
Overseeing the preparation of timely, relevant and value-added information on entities and presenting this to senior management, both local and functional, including:
> Managing the books and records of your portfolio to ensure transactions are reflected accurately and ledgers maintained
> Oversight of monthly reconciliation of accounts and balances
> Review of management accounts and variance analysis
> Review of statutory financial statements
> Managing the reporting commitments on your portfolio of entities, ensuring ongoing obligations are being met, including validation of US Federal Reserve entity level reporting
> Managing relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally including Product Control, Treasury, Business Units, Company Secretarial and Tax and where required with external auditors.
> Re-engineering, standardisation and automation of processes and spearhead the team's AI initiatives
> Supporting the Business Units in the set-up, opening & closing of entities and adapting the entity's ledgers and system requirements.
> Supporting ongoing entity-specific initiatives and projects
> Contributing to the reporting control framework, ensuring compliance to client requirements and internal policies
> Summarising progress and escalating issues on your portfolio to ensure issues are being addressed in a timely manner. What we're looking for:
> Enjoy working within a team to achieve common goals and have an established record and experience of contributing effectively to a team environment.
> An ability to self-manage workload effectively whilst balancing multiple deliverables and priorities.
> Strong analytical, organizational and documentation skills and an ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally.
> An ability to follow issues through many layers to discover root causes and propose solutions.
> You take pride in the quality of your work and proactively drive your work through to conclusion, thriving under the challenge of balancing multiple issues and priorities.
> Candidates for the role should be a qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA) or have relevant degree or equivalent experience.

Skills that will help you in the role:
> Experience in preparing and/ or posting journals and adjustments to financial reporting systems.
> Highly numerate with a close attention to detail and a strong commitment to developing your own skills.
> The ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and proactive in looking for opportunities to expand responsibilities.
> Relevant work experience in the financial services industry.
> Candidates should possess excellent Microsoft Excel skills and be proficient at summarising and presenting themes and results in a meaningful format.
