We're seeking someone to join our IST team as a Lead Software Engineer, in Client & Investor Analytics technology to manage, develop and design the application using Java Springboot, Microservices and database (Strong Experience).
The Client and Investor Analytics Division at Morgan Stanley drives cutting-edge technology solutions that power critical collateral management functions across the firm's global operations. This is a Lead Java Engineer position at Vice President Level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintains software solutions that support business needs.

What you'll do in the role:
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of high-performance collateral management systems
Drive architectural decisions around caching strategies, multi-threading, and stream processing
Implement and optimize data processing workflows spanning OLTP and OLAP systems
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical solutions
Mentor and guide a team of developers while maintaining hands-on involvement in codebases
Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of mission-critical applications
Implement robust observability solutions for system monitoring and troubleshooting
Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate with enterprise data platforms
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology modernization efforts
What you'll bring to the role:
8+ Yrs. years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in financial services
Strong hands-on Java development experience in enterprise applications
Familiarity with GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools
Proficiency with multi-threading and concurrent programming
Experience with stream-based data processing architectures
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Deep understanding of OLTP and OLAP systems and their appropriate applications
Experience implementing observability solutions (logging, metrics, tracing)
Track record of solving complex technical problems in high-stakes environments
At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
Investment banking or capital markets domain experience, particularly in collateral management
Expertise in caching technologies like Redis/Hazelcast
Hands-on experience with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics
Knowledge of Apache Spark for big-data processing
Experience leading technical teams or technical project delivery
Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting collateral management
