JAVA/Springboot Lead - Vice President - Software Engineering

This is a Vice President position which comes with responsibilities for guiding a team of developers in Mumbai, in addition to hands-on development in Java, and a hands-on approach to working with data across all phases of the software development lifecycle, partnering closely with the Product Owner and squad in product delivery. We are looking for someone who will provide technical leadership, primarily of our financial data workstream, but with local oversight of other areas being worked on by our existing team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate should have the skills listed below, but in addition, should be a self-driven, dedicated individual who can inspire others to deliver, innovate and lead as well as working well in a team and thinking and acting strategically, being able to leverage the skills and expertise of those around them. Responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of multiple applications and/or platforms Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization and discuss opportunities for improvement to existing and future technology solutions. Provide technical leadership and vision for software development projects. Define technical architecture and roadmap for large-scale, mission-critical systems. Manage a team of software engineers, providing technical direction and assign tasks in accordance with business priorities. Drive the adoption of agile methodologies and best practices across the team. Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Act as a subject matter expert in specific technology domains or platforms. Continuously assess and improve team performance and efficiency. Estimation & end to end execution of required changes, coordination with stakeholders, as required. At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role Extensive hands-on application development utilizing JAVA (Spring Boot) and other open-source technologies. Experience in developing and consuming web services using standard Java based frameworks/toolkits (REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML) Experience in the development of service-oriented architecture application, good understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Design Patterns and Git version control. Hands on knowledge of working on Multithreaded application. Solid understanding of DB concepts and working with relational databases (DB2 preferred) Experience in Apache Kafka, Apache Camel and other programming languages like python and Perl Strong analytical and design skills, including the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient and effective technical designs that work well within large-scale, well-structured enterprise environments. Proficient in DevOps tooling and practices Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading development teams. A very strong communicator with the ability to interface directly with clients, vendors, and analysts to ensure technical requirements and delivery align with expectations. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly identify and document the root cause of issues, and effectively communicate possible resolutions.
