We're seeking someone to join our team as a team specialist in IM operation.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo.

IM Operations group supports the equity, fixed income, liquidity and alternative businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager and trading support, client services and onboarding, market registration, product data, derivative processing, performance analysis and mutual fund support. Besides, IM Operations also perform vendor management on the service providers.

This is a position at Director within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Serve as single point of contact, providing proactive and effective operational support for internal stakeholders with external service providers (eg. State Street IMS, CACEIS TA, custodians, etc)
  • Oversee end-to-end investment operations across the trade lifecycle, including trade capture, affirmation, settlement, reconciliation, corporate actions, income processing, and position/NAV validation.
  • Ensure timely resolution of trade breaks, settlement fails, overdrafts, and cash/position discrepancies, exercising sound judgment and escalation when required.
  • Proactively identify operational risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies; question existing processes and challenge the status quo constructively.
  • Partner with global operation team to provide seamless query resolution of firmwide top tier and Asia focused clients
  • Responsible for the oversight and governance of external vendors
  • Provide portfolio service support for T3 events (ie. Take on, Termination, Transition) led by the Client Account Service team
  • Support day-to-day inquiries and requests for institutional, sub-advised and intermediary clients
  • Perform fund administration governance and middle-office support for the MS onshore fund in China
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and service level agreements.
  • Participate in audits, regulatory inquiries, and risk reviews with confidence and clarity
  • Partner with Technology and Transformation teams to implement process automation and system enhancement
  • Perform related duties as assigned

What you'll bring to the role:
  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Act as a trusted operational partner to clients and internal stakeholders, demonstrating a strong understanding of client expectations and service commitments.
  • Maintain a proven track record of delivering high-quality client servicing, with a focus on accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including Portfolio Managers, senior management, external service providers, and clients.
  • Translate complex operational issues into clear, concise, and actionable messages, tailored to the audience.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and global teams to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Actively adopt and advocate for AI, automation, and digital solutions to improve reporting, controls, and scalability.
  • Serve as a change agent in embedding continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, especially during peak periods, market volatility, or regulatory deadlines.
  • Independently prioritize workloads while maintaining high standards of accuracy and control.
  • Able to work independently and confidence in resolving issues with minimum guidance
  • Team Player with good interpersonal skills, actively participate in meetings contributing ideas and solutions
  • Ability to identify risk and escalate issues timely
