Institutional Equity Division - Analyst/Associate, Strategic Investments (New York)
Our New York office is looking for an Analyst / Associate candidate to join the Strategic Investments team. Strategic Investments makes and manages investments on behalf of Morgan Stanley across market infrastructure, trading and wealth management platforms, and innovative technology companies that are complementary to the Firm's overall strategic agenda.
Team members manage the full investment lifecycle from sourcing, selection, evaluation, due diligence, negotiation and closing to post-investment monitoring / strategic involvement and exit. Responsibilities include the preparation of detailed valuation analyses and presentations to the Investment Committee, as well as research and monitoring of industry developments relevant to the Strategic Investments portfolio and Morgan Stanley's businesses.
The individual will work closely with the rest of the team as well as colleagues across products and functions firmwide to identify and assess investment opportunities and manage the portfolio. - 1-2+ years working in investment banking, venture / growth equity, strategy consulting or strategic corporate finance with a proven track record
- Building and analyzing financial models and conducting financial due diligence
- Experience managing transaction / investment processes and working across cross-functional teams
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, CRM tools, AI/LLM-based tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot)
The ideal candidate will have:
- The ability to perform under pressure and manage competing deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Sharp analytical and risk management capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced financial modeling and presentation skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
