Department overview
The Institutional Equity Division (IED) is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Firm's equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our clients generate alpha. This role is part of the Equity Prime Brokerage business, which delivers physical and synthetic equity financing solutions, securities lending services and market access to hedge funds and other institutional investors.
What will you be doing?
The Prime Brokerage Strategist Team is part of the Institutional Equities Division. The team works with Core Prime Brokerage, Delta One Swap Desk and Securities Lending Desk covering the EMEA region and the role is responsible for:
- Developing reporting and analytics tools for risk assessment and pricing.
- Analysing and optimising inventory and utilisation of financial resources.
- Providing analytics and undertaking ad-hoc development to support new product launches.
- Developing workflow, alerting, pricing, and analytical tools to support Sales and Trading teams.
- Collaborating with internal divisions such as IT, Operations, and Controllers to enhance workflow, efficiency, and risk controls at desk level.
- Delivering rapid technical enhancements to trading processes to address short-term requirements of traders, clients, risk, or regulatory needs.
What we're looking for:
Required:
- 5+ years' experience in trading, strats, quants, actuarial science, or IT
- Academic background in Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or Computer Science
- Strong analytical abilities and IT-related skills
- Experience in statistical and data analysis
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, C#, or C++)
Desirable:
- Experience in Equity Markets, Prime Brokerage, Securities Lending, Equity Financing or Delta One businesses.
- Experience building analytics, pricing, inventory management or workflow tools for front-office users.
- Familiarity with linear programming is advantageous
- Knowledge of kdb+/q is a significant plus
- Experience with Javascript web development is a plus
- Experience applying machine learning, AI or advanced data science techniques to business and trading problems is a significant plus
- Database programming skills (SQL, Sybase, DB2 or similar) are considered a plus
