Head of Security Settlements Operations - Vice President

We're seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President to manage the Security Settlements Team and Automation Team (14 people) based in Frankfurt.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships, driving strategic automation solutions by embracing a transformation mindset and challenging the status quo.

Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, we continually strive to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.

This is a Vice President position within Core Services, which is responsible for performing and managing product-agnostic and centralized operational services across several businesses and products.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for supervisory checks and doing management reporting
  • Staff management / responsible for 14 team members
  • Strategic input for local and global projects within continental EMEA
  • Regulatory reporting monitoring and audit management
  • Interface and contact point for internal and external queries


What you'll bring in the role:
  • At least 8-10 years' relevant experience in Security Settlements
  • Strong knowledge of the German market (Clearstream, Eurex)
  • Experience with automation tools such as Alteryx, Ui Path, as well as experience in project management and Change the Bank
  • Educated to a degree or equivalent academic level
  • Fluent in written & spoken English is required, fluent in written & spoken German is preferred
  • Significant related industry experience
  • Knowledge of operational functions and processes of a broker dealer
  • Strong confident communicator (written and oral)
