Global Banking Services- Associate- Core Services

We're seeking someone to join our team as a Global Banking Services Associate. The department (GBS) operates as a globally integrated function across Glasgow, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Mumbai. The team is responsible for the end-to-end governance of custody and clearing bank accounts held with external agent banks, including the creation and ongoing review of key regulatory documentation across all Morgan Stanley legal entities and markets. Such scope provides a dynamic, ever-changing backdrop for an exciting role involving collaboration across multiple Business Units and Operations teams.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is an Associate level position within the Core Services

What you'll do in the role:

  • Responsible for executing the end-to-end account opening and closing process across all global markets.
  • Executes/leads complex functions, processes, risks and/or projects for high-priority account opening and closure requests based on key deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal Morgan Stanley teams, including Legal, Global Network Management, Compliance, and various Business Units, to fulfil account opening requirements.
  • Coordinate Morgan Stanley signatory requests for account opening and closing documentation.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements related to account opening and closure, including (but not limited to) KYC Refresh, AML, CFTC, 15c3-3 and CASS.
  • Ensure agent banks comply with agreed service level agreements (SLAs) for account opening and closure in each market.
  • Partner with key stakeholders such as Compliance, ORRC Client Money, Listed Derivatives, Cash Management, Global Financial Crimes and Global Network Management teams.
  • Escalate issues promptly and accurately to keep managers informed of progress.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, developing current and comprehensive knowledge of global markets, account opening requirements, and pre-investment information.
  • Conduct annual reviews and updates of desktop and supervisory procedures.
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and metrics.
  • Reconcile bank accounts opened for internal legal entities to align with external agent bank records.


What you'll bring to the role:
  • Prior experience in KYC onboarding or bank account opening, closing, and maintenance roles is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power tools, Power BI, Alteryx, and UI Path is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal abilities, actively builds professional networks, fosters consensus, and forms alliances throughout the organisation.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Displays a keen awareness of risk, able to respond promptly to issues and ensure their resolution.
  • Acts as a catalyst for change, consistently questioning established practices.

  • Delivers results under tight deadlines, maintaining a strong focus on achieving objectives.

  • Motivated to pursue a long-term career in the financial services industry.
  • A graduate with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Solid understanding of operational processes.
