Job Summary
Within Firmwide Marketing, the Distribution & Websites team is responsible for developing and scaling seamless digital experiences across a range of distribution channels and platforms to deliver our Firm and its businesses to core audiences globally.
Within this team, we are seeking an Executive Director, Head of Websites, to lead the team responsible for Morgan Stanley's website strategy, implementation and optimization globally (including our flagship domain, MorganStanley.com). This role will report directly to the Global Head of Marketing Distribution & Websites (Head of Digital Marketing).
The ideal candidate will be a visionary and results-oriented digital strategy leader to drive the development and execution of an audience-led, integrated website strategy which accelerates growth, enhances customer experience and strengthens our brand. This role is responsible for aligning digital initiatives with business goals, identifying innovation opportunities, and guiding cross-functional teams in delivering high-impact digital work. This candidate combines strategic thinking with deep digital expertise and strong stakeholder management skills.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop Morgan Stanley's global website strategy to align with the strategic direction of the Firm in partnership with executive leadership; define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders
- Manage a team of individuals collaborating across the end-to-end website process, spanning intake and operations, digital product/strategy, experience/design (including UXD & UXR), front-end development/platform and search engine optimization (SEO)
- Transform our global website presence in a forward-looking manner aligned with evolving technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI), enhanced personalization capabilities and more; leverage these capabilities to craft an audience-led framework which helps us deliver our integrated firm solutions seamlessly to key segments
- Translate business objectives into clear digital roadmaps, initiatives and KPIs; ensure all workstreams ladder back to these foundations and deliver business value
- Implement consistent processes across the team which facilitate efficiency, communication and clarity of role, resulting in a culture of excellence from large initiatives down to smaller updates (with a focus on accuracy, recency/timeliness and instilling pride of work)
- Ongoing data-driven optimization and evolution of website strategy; close partnership with analytics and research teams to assess performance, generate insights and continually test and grow
- Activation of regulatory-driven requirements and general digital best practices within larger strategic framework, including compliance with accessibility, data privacy and brand standards
- Lead market and competitor research to identify digital trends, customer behavior shifts, and white-space opportunities
- Evaluate and prioritize new digital capabilities, platforms, and experiences (e.g., mobile, AI/automation, CMS for owned platforms/properties); monitor the digital landscape for emerging technologies and guide pilots or adoption
- Facilitate strategic buy-in and alignment with stakeholders across departments; close partnership with Technology, Marketing, Communications, Legal and Compliance, and business partners in key interfacing functions
- Advocate for a customer-centric, data-informed, and innovation-driven mindset throughout the organization
Qualifications and Skills
- 12-15+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing, with extensive experience in website strategy, execution/development and management; experience in a digital strategy and/or leadership role is a must
- 8+ years of people management and leadership experience; ability to lead a large team with clear direction resulting in positive outcomes
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with a focus on digital growth
- Deep understanding of digital channels, technologies and experience design
- Expertise in building multi-year digital roadmaps and driving cross-functional alignment
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and stakeholder influence skills; comfortable navigating large, matrixed organizations
- Ability to synthesize complex data and insights into actionable recommendations and strategies
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and digital product lifecycle management
- Comfort working in dynamic, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Business, Marketing, Digital Marketing, Strategy, or related field
- Proven track record of leading digital transformation or innovation initiative
- Background in customer experience or digital product management is a plus
- Strong familiarity with key digital platforms (e.g., CMS, CRM, MarTech stack, customer journey tools)
- Financial Services industry experience preferred
- Strong communication skills, fostering collaboration between technical and non-technical stakeholders

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $165,000 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
