Director (AVP) - Collateral Optimization

We're seeking someone to join our team as a Director in Shared Services & Banking Operations responsible for the financing, funding, and optimization of the Firm's inventory. The team has daily interaction with the trading desk and are required to liaise with operational colleagues across a range of disciplines to ensure the timely and accurate execution, collateralization and optimization of trades, providing an opportunity to develop a strong network across firm. The successful candidate will be working in a dynamic and challenging environment, covering either the firm financing/funding or collateral management.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Specialist position at Director level within Product Support & Services, which is responsible for providing transaction support and managing post execution processes.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Lead and oversee Regulation W operational monitoring and controls, ensuring compliance with intercompany transaction requirements and associated regulatory obligations.
  • Manage Exposure and Collateral across Morgan Stanley's intercompany and external transactions, including CCPs, Triparty, and Bilateral arrangements.
  • Oversee product exposure across Stock Loan, Repo, and Derivatives, ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the firm's Liquidity and Capital optimization objectives while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards such as LCR, NSFR, and Intraday Liquidity requirements.
  • Identify and remediate control gaps by developing tactical and strategic solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Maintain a strong focus on enhancing controls, reducing operational risk, and driving continuous process improvement.
  • Provide ad-hoc problem resolution for complex operational issues, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent: analytical, financial or mathematically related subject favored
  • Candidate will have prior exposure of either derivative, stock loan or repo products
  • Strong understanding of front to back trade booking flows
  • Understanding of legal documentation from CSAs, to GMRAs and GMSLAs
  • Understanding of key Optimization initiatives such as Cheapest to Deliver inclusive of Liquidity/Capital metrics such as LCR, NSFR, Intraday Liquidity, Leverage and Capital ratios
  • Analytical skills are essential for the role, attention to detail will also be a requirement
  • Good interpersonal and relationship management skills, being able to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to convey issues succinctly to front office stakeholders and to reach timely resolutions with counterparties
  • Candidate should be able to organize themselves efficiently as they will need to prioritize and keep track of multiple outstanding items while working to meet daily deadlines
  • Self-starter with the ability to work either on their own initiative as well as be a solid team player
  • Advanced Excel proficiency required
  • At least 4 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $82,000 and $133,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
