  • Operations Technology is responsible for building and operating the technology platform catering to critical business processes at Morgan Stanley including Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping, Corporate Actions processing and other post-trade functions. The Firm operates at scale with up to 40 million trades processed on peak volume days and hundreds of billions of dollars of daily settlements with activity ongoing in multiple countries and currencies across the globe.


Team Profile:
  • Global Settlements technology team has significant presence in Mumbai, New York and Montreal. We are organized into Agile delivery teams closely aligned with Operations product owners, and there is an opportunity to directly see the business benefit of the solutions we develop through our close partnership with our stakeholders and users. We believe in the forward momentum and progress of technology and aim to harness the very best in new technology and systems design to deliver exceptional capabilities to our businesses.


Role:
  • We are seeking an experienced consultant with a strong background in Python and shell scripting, along with proficiency in running SQL queries. As a consultant, you will be responsible for understanding the business requirements of Settlement users and developing new reports. Furthermore, you will collaborate with regulators to provide data provisioning solutions. The role demands ownership of end-to-end delivery of business functionality in an Agile team setting. You will engage directly with users and work closely with technologists across the organization.

Job Requirement:
  • At least 6+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
  • 6+ years of being a practitioner in data engineering or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Dask).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Snowflake experience along with relational databases (e.g., Sybase, DB2, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and technologies (e.g., dimensional modeling, star schema, data vault modeling, Kimball methodology, Inmon methodology, data lake design).
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and open-source frameworks for data transformation (e.g., Apache Spark, Apache Airflow) and Databricks.
  • Experience with any one of the cloud platform, Azure preferred
  • Experience with message queues and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Experience using Jupyter notebooks for data exploration, analysis, and visualization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a geographically distributed team.


Nice to have:
  • Understanding of any cloud-based application development & Dev Ops.
  • Understanding of business intelligence tools - Tableau,PowerBI
  • Understanding of Trade Lifecycle / Financial markets.
  • Understanding of Java
