Background on th e Team

Morgan Stanley transacts exchange-traded Listed contracts globally, with trading locations in Europe, North America and Asia. The Mumbai Derivatives Clearing Group supports Asia region, with the main teams located in Baltimore, New York, Glasgow, India, Hongkong, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore.

The Derivatives Clearing group is responsible to ensure all contracts traded on exchange are booked to the relevant client / firm accounts. Positions are accurately captured and fully reconciled against exchanges on trade date across markets located in these regions, and ensuring the Margin obligations to the CCPs/clients are met on a daily basis. The scope includes exchange, broker, inter company and internal account relationships. The function will also continue to evolve, because of the ongoing technology strategy in order to provide a scalable automated processing model.

Primary Responsibilities

The Executive Director (ED) - Derivatives Clearing Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, risk management, and delivery excellence of Derivatives Clearing functions based in Mumbai. The role partners closely with global DC leadership across APAC, EMEA, and NA, ensuring consistent execution of clearing, margin, reconciliation, trade support, and regulatory obligations while continuing to scale the India operations footprint.

The role carries end-to-end accountability for operational stability, people leadership, risk & control outcomes, and stakeholder engagement, while enabling transformation through automation, standardization, and talent development.

1. Operational Leadership & Execution

  • Provide senior oversight for BAU delivery across DC functions (e.g., Client Margin, Trade Support, FCS/Fees, Reconciliations, Control & Regulatory Services).
  • Ensure adherence to global operating models, SLAs, and service quality standards.
  • Drive capacity planning and workload balancing in line with business growth and regional strategies.


2. Risk, Control & Regulatory Oversight

  • Own the DC risk and control framework for Mumbai, including issue identification, remediation, and lessons learned.
  • Ensure compliance with clearing house requirements, client money rules, regulatory reporting obligations, and internal policies.
  • Partner with ORRC, Compliance, Audit, and Risk to manage reviews, exams, and self-assessments.
  • Act as senior escalation point for material incidents and control breaches.


3. People Leadership & Talent Strategy

  • Lead, develop, and retain Directors, Vice Presidents, and senior managers across DC Ops.
  • Own performance management, succession planning, and internal mobility for senior roles.
  • Champion inclusive leadership, strong engagement, and a high-performance culture.

  • Serve as the primary senior Mumbai DC representative to global stakeholders, including Product, Front Office, Technology, Finance, and Risk.
  • Represent Mumbai DC in global governance forums, operating reviews, and strategy discussions.
  • Ensure clear communication, issue transparency, and strong partnership with regional and global leadership.


5. Transformation, Automation & Strategy

  • Drive process simplification, automation, and resiliency initiatives in partnership with Technology and global change teams.
  • Contribute to the long-term location and workforce strategy for DC Operations.
  • Leverage data, metrics, and MI to improve decision-making and operational outcomes.


Skill R equirements

COMMERCIAL/ BUSINESS ORIENTATION

  • The team works a split shift system. Therefore, flexibility on start/finish times will be required.
  • After the initial training period, the successful individual will expect to work independently and proactively with minimal management supervision.
  • Candidate should be a confident, well-rounded methodical person with good analytical skills
  • Good relationship building skills
  • Task orientated, inquisitive in nature and have an appetite to learn


FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of listed derivatives, FXPB and Cleared OTC Trade Support Group functions (or at least the concept of TSG functions) is an advantage.
  • The individual will be expected to learn quickly to acquire the required technical/product knowledge.

Experience Required

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience
  • 5+years of Listed Derivatives/Cleared OTC and FX Prime Brokerage product experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
