We're seeking someone to join our team as Vice President - Data Scientist to help with designing and implementing complex Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence models and solving business problems using various Analytical and AI tools.
In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Lead Software Engineering position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family
responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.
Institutional Securities Technology (IST) develops and oversees the overall technology strategy and bespoke technology solutions to drive and enable the institutional businesses and enterprise-wide functions. IST's 'clients' include Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, Prime Brokerage and Global Capital Markets.
Advisory is responsible for end-to-end process life cycle support for Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets and Research with a focus on efficiency, scale, and time to market. Sales Distribution develops technology for the firm's IED and FID Sales and Distribution business units, creating application synergies across the businesses various platforms

What you'll do in the role:
- Communicate regularly with product leads across the technology organization and discuss opportunities for improvement to existing and future technology solutions
- The role will require the candidate to work independently with Research business and vendors on analysing and defining problem statements, and work closely with development teams on designing and implementing the solution and managing the delivery of various products.
- Provide technical leadership and vision for software development projects.
- Define technical architecture and roadmap for large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Establish and communicate departmental goals and objectives aligned with business priorities.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Ability to effectively manage multiple functions or guide junior staff and initiatives.
- Advanced understanding of business line and discipline with some knowledge of competitive environment and other disciplines.
- 10+ years of experience in designing and implementing AI/ML models in the following areas:
- Supervised & Unsupervised Learning
- Deep Learning (CNN, RNN, LSTM, Transformers)
- Prompting, HybridRAG, Chunking/Embedding, and Fine Tuning experience with OpenAI models and open source LLMs
- Natural Language Processing (Sentiment Analysis, Embeddings, Summarization, Chatbot etc.)
- Entity identification/extraction and knowledge discovery from structured and unstructured content
- Expert in Python, R, Spark, TensorFlow, Snowflake, Databricks and other machine learning / LLM tools
- Familiar with noSQL and vector databases
- Experience in CPU/GPU cloud environments
- Excellent communication skills and basic knowledge in finance
- PhD or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or other related fields
- At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
