Data Governance Associate

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Data Governance Associate to join our Budapest HR Data Governance Team. The team is accountable for driving data governance initiatives for HR and ensuring adherence to regulatory and firmwide governance policies. You will focus on the full data governance and Data Quality lifecycle.

In the Human Resources division, we provide advice and insight to attract, retain, reward and develop a talented global workforce, giving employees the support and tools they need to succeed.

This is a position within the HR Data and Intelligence team, which looks to leverage technology to solve complex business problems, support workforce strategy development, and predict talent risks and opportunities.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Support the Data Quality and Data Issues for Human Resources globally
  • Examine prioritized Human Resources-generated reports, and put them through the data governance lifecycle (e.g., Cataloging, Sourcing, Lineage, Fit for Purpose, Data Quality Monitoring)
  • Partner with Business and IT counterparts to develop and implement Data Quality rules for Critical Data Attributes
  • Contribute to a subset of activities related to Data Quality for critical HR systems as part of a larger team effort to establish Data Quality controls for authorized HR data distributors
  • Partner with and work with both Human Resources and Information Technology teams
  • Communicate and drive projects forward with technical and non-technical audiences and articulate the value the team is delivering by implementing these control processes
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting and summaries of Data Quality across Human Resources Data Domain
  • Lead working groups to prioritize and remediate data issues


What you'll bring to the role:

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in risk and controls; data governance and data quality and a Bachelor's degree would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
  • Ability to communicate ideas and data both verbally and in writing in a persuasive and appropriate manner
  • Experience in quality assurance and managing key risk and control procedures
  • Experience in senior stakeholder management with good presentation skills
  • Strong experience with MS Excel (proficient in the use of functions, pivot tables) and PowerPoint
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources Data, PII and sensitive data is a plus
