Bank Analytics - Assistance Vice President

The Analytics & Data (A&D) team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Strategy and Analytics owns all the management reporting, customer and product behavior insights, and predictive modeling in support of Wealth Management, Banking, and Firmwide Marketing.

The A&D Bank Analytics team specifically is responsible for delivering analytics to inform Bank strategy, accelerate growth and improve business outcomes across our deposits and lending segments. As part of this global team, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners across Bank senior leadership, product, sales, marketing and technology areas to solve unique business challenges, influence change and measure impact.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, data-driven thinker who demonstrates

  • Strong communication and data-driven storytelling skills
  • Exceptional command of data mining tools and languages such as SQL and Python
  • An AI-first mindset to improve productivity and process efficiency
  • Curiosity to learn about diverse financial products and business practices
  • Ability to lead analytical projects end-to-end


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a diverse set of business partners to identify business problems and how they relate to Bank's key strategic objectives
  • Design customized analytical solutions with a clear project plan, encompassing hypotheses development, methodology review and timelines for delivering actionable insights, recommendations and next steps
  • Develop large analytic datasets, research trends, develop baseline view of business metrics and drivers, and iterate through comprehensive analyses in close partnership with stakeholders
  • Seek process, programming and data structure enhancements to improve team's analytic throughput at scale using AI capabilities
  • Execute on opportunities to deploy learnings, methodology and logic to drive broader strategic objectives


Required Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or related field. Master's degree in a related field would be a plus
  • Strong background with SQL and Python required. Experience with Dataiku, SAS and Tableau would be a plus
  • Experience applying diverse statistical tools and techniques to solve business problems
  • Strong analytics and data management experience to drive exploratory, advanced analytic and measurement deliverables
  • Succinctly communicate ideas, recommendations, and tell stories using analytics to business audience, including senior management, and influence decision making
  • Self-starter with strong and creative problem-solving skills
  • 3+ years of related work experience. Experience in financial services preferred, ideally with Banking and\or Lending background

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 85,000 and 140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
