Position Description:

ISG Model Control within ISG Non-Financial Risk is part of a 1st central risk team responsible for governing the Global Model Control, Algo Trading Governance, Trader Mandate, Booking Model, and Trading Risk Limit Governance functions within Morgan Stanley.

These in-business risk management teams partner with internal and external control groups to understand business needs and their associated risks, execute on practical solutions, and maintain a global governance, communication, and awareness strategy that underscores a culture of control excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

This specific role is part of the Algo Trading team focused on governance and oversight. The candidate would be expected to undertake a wide range of duties, often having to manage multiple tasks with frequent changes to priorities.

The primary responsibilities include supporting the daily activities and initiatives of the group, such as:

  • Enhancing the framework to monitor compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Managing the governance of the Trading Algorithm lifecycle
  • Partnering with developers and reviewers in assessing candidate models/tools
  • Identifying key metrics and assisting in the design and implementation of reports
  • Monitoring compliance with Policy through investigation of alerts, escalation of exceptions to policies and assisting with their resolution
  • Engaging and assisting key stakeholders in the implementation of procedures ensuring consistency of framework across all business units
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements of existing governance framework and participate in projects to enhance processes
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses to support continuous improvement of the governance processes

Skills Required
  • Understanding of financial markets with cross asset experience,
  • Experience of managing and delivering both commercial and regulatory driven change
  • Experience of non-financial risk and controls
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with confidence to present to senior management
  • Able to balance various initiatives and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidance on model risk management and Trading Algorithms is preferrable
  • Initiative and ability to facilitate communication across functional areas
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Sensitivity to detail and accuracy in everyday work
