Senior Accountant
Senior Accountant essential functions include, but are not limited to, assisting with the preparation of journal entries, generating invoices, preparing monthly general ledger reconciliations, and assisting with various financial reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for other accounting, financial and administrative tasks for the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball.
Responsibilities
General Accounting
- Prepare journal entry support for monthly accruals across various MLB entities
- Assist various MLB entities with accounts payable and prepare related bank reconciliations
- Assist with day to day accounts receivable activities including generating invoices for international broadcast, baseball operations, and MLB Clubs
- Assist with reconciliations of Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss accounts
- Assist with the financial close processes at month and year end
- Assist with the monthly close process for all fixed asset ledgers
Reporting & Audit
- Prepare analyses and reporting of financial data at the end of each month
- Assist with the dissemination of information to the auditors
- Assist with preparation of the audited financial statements
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field is required (CPA preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in a related finance and accounting role (Public accounting experience preferred)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
- Strong analytical skills, technical accounting proficiency, effective problem-solving skills and strong ability to interpret accounting information/reports
- Ability to work under pressure and cultivate and develop key relationships
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required along with the ability to effectively interface with external contacts, internal management, and accounting and finance team
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems is preferred

Salary Range: $90,000-$115,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
