Coordinator, Legal & Business Affairs
The Major League Baseball Business & Technology Legal team oversees the legal aspects of a wide range of Major League Baseball’s domestic and international commercial activities, including licensing, products, national events (such as the World Series and the All-Star Game), marketing, advertising, sponsorship, ticketing, video and mobile games and gaming, sports betting, technology infrastructure, software licensing, consumer protection, data privacy, and information security. Major League Baseball is seeking a Coordinator, Legal & Business Affairs to join this team.
Responsibilities
Contract Preparation and Administration
- Collaborate with the company’s (and its affiliates’) internal business units (including technology, engineering, information security, licensing, consumer products, business development, marketing, social media, mobile, ticketing, advertising, promotions and sponsorship, human resources and finance) and external partners to determine business goals and relevant contract terms
- Manage, prepare, and negotiate transactional agreements with appropriate oversight from and collaboration with counsel
- Maintain and update templates and boilerplate contract clauses
Compliance Matters
- Conduct preliminary reviews of terms of service, EULAs, DPAs, NDAs, and other agreements
- Assist with reviewing marketing, advertising, and promotional assets
- Support the development of internal and external policies and terms and conditions
Research
- Perform legal research as needed to support the Business & Technology Legal team
Support
- Handle various related tasks and special projects as assigned by the Business & Technology Legal team including administrative support as necessary
- Support lawyers and senior staff in various and business affairs functions, including contract preparation and administration, compliance, research, and general departmental support
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years’ experience as a contract administrator / transactional paralegal (or equivalent). Law firm or in-house legal team experience strongly preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong academic credentials and references
- Ability to handle privileged, confidential, and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner
- Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and simultaneously accomplish multiple quantitatively and qualitatively challenging tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, Litera Compare, Ironclad or other contract lifecycle management systems, and Internet research
Salary Range: $67,500 - $70,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision.
