Fund Accountant (FoF)

Position
MIO's Finance function is seeking a Fund Accountant to join the team responsible for the accounting and administration of the various MIO Fund-of-Fund/Limited-Partner (FoF/LP) vehicles. This role will also provide opportunities to participate in special projects (new products, new system implementations/existing system upgrades, and various process improvements) and to gain exposure to the responsibilities of other groups within and outside of Finance.
Primary responsibilities
- Maintaining daily cash reconciliations and uploading daily cash transactions of FoF/LP vehicles across various systems
- Processing wires for margin calls and private equity capital calls with third-party custodians
- Monitoring the Firm inbox for LP statements, reports, requests, contract notes, capital calls, and distribution notices
- Coordinating with the MIO Treasury team, Trade Operations team, and third-party custodians to troubleshoot cash, position, and market value reconciliation breaks
- Assisting in the fund expense accrual budget and payment process
- Preparation and review of accounting records, financial statements, and tax work papers
- Reconciling month-end NAV reporting from fund administrators and resolving discrepancies
- Developing, monitoring, improving, and implementing internal controls, policies, and procedures where necessary
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or formal education in accounting and/or finance
- 1-4 years of experience in alternative investment fund accounting and reporting, specifically within a hedge fund or fund administrator; auditors serving clients in financial services are also suitable
- Licensed CPA a plus
- Skilled in general ledger entries and transaction processing; extensive experience working through an audit process, preparing audited financial statements, expense accruals, and investor transaction review/processing
- Experience with various management and incentive fee terms and calculations
- Basic knowledge of stocks, bonds, foreign currencies, various derivatives (exchange-traded and OTC), and other complex instruments
- Experience with Advent Geneva, Arcesium, and Duco a plus
- Be capable of working independently or as part of a team, depending on the nature of duties, including working with other functional areas of the organization
- Have a deep understanding of accounting principles and processes, including journal entries, balance sheet, and income statement presentation and results
- Possess attention to detail and time management skills with adherence to deadlines and workflow while ensuring a high-quality work output
- Have strong communication, written, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop critical relationships with both internal stakeholders and external counterparts with various levels of seniority
- Be technically sound with strong Excel skills and adept in various accounting systems, etc.
- Bring an entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement
Base salary range
$95,000-$95,000 USD
