Technical Program Manager, Camera Systems
As a Technical Program Manager in the Camera, Depth and Sensors team at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. You will lead cross-functional teams to design, develop, and manufacture cutting-edge camera optical components and systems that enhance user experiences. Your responsibilities will include managing complex projects, collaborating with global partners, and driving innovation in camera, depth and sensor system design and manufacturing. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and extensive program management skills to deliver high-quality products that meet the evolving needs of our users.
Technical Program Manager, Camera Systems Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of camera, depth and sensor assemblies for Virtual Reality HMD (Head-Mounted Display) system, focusing on specification, procurement, manufacturing, testing, process optimization, and integration
- Manage projects with suppliers and partners, from creating statements of work to driving final deliverables in collaboration with Operations, Business Development, Legal, and Procurement
- Evaluate suppliers' experience to meet product requirements, partner with the operations team to establish a robust and scalable supply chain strategy
- Operate at different levels of abstraction, from high-level strategic planning (System architecture, technology selection, organizational structure, commercial partnerships) to tactical project management (prioritization, schedule creation, milestone definition and execution, and deliverable management)
- Breakdown the complexity of technical programs to enable a clear understanding of scope and deliverables to a wider audience of team members and support functions
- Drive the execution of the plan and manage the day-to-day activities of the program
- Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to address them and manage risk
- Identify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocks
- Act as the main channel of communication for key formal discussions and decisions involving technical team leader, external partners, and other members of the organization
- Expect to travel domestically to external partner sites, 1-2 times a month, and internationally, 1-2 times a year, primarily for supplier visits and build support

- 5+ years as a technical program manager (or related role)
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Optics, Physics, Materials science, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
- Experience with program management methodologies like Agile, Phase-gate approach and tools like Smartsheets, Gantt charts
- Experience leading and partnering with Asia-based vendors and contract manufacturers
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional team communication, authoring and presenting documents, synthesizing information into the most salient points to move a team / initiative forward
- Experience as a technical program manager (or related role) in optical systems development, camera development or related field
- Experience in smartphone, AR/VR, or consumer camera system manufacturing
- Experience working with external partners or suppliers for camera technologies
