The Meta Robotics Studio is seeking a Research Engineer. This role is pivotal in tackling challenging mechanical/electrical design problems including designing and developing complex robotics that balance ergonomics, performance, reliability, and usability while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. This role will be part of a cross-collaborative team responsible for initial concept development, analytical modeling, prototype design, construction, and testing; and it may involve research into Electro-mechanics, Sensor and Communication, and/or Planning and Control.

Research Engineer: Meta Robotics Studio Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: mechanical and electrical system design and analysis problems for robotics structure, mechanisms, power transmissions, electric components, and systems integration while balancing ergonomics, performance, reliability.
- Supporting parts manufacture: Working with internal/external partners to support part fabrication and complex custom sub assembly.
- Assembly of robot: Hands on work in the lab constructing sub-assemblies to full system level robot prototypes.
- Failure analysis: Build subsystem test fixtures, design tests, create test plans, perform tests, measure and analyze data, and refine design assumptions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to deliver technical solutions.
- 3+ years of experience in Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineering and with experience in Machine Design or Electrical component development.
- BS degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience designing electromechanical assemblies (robotics, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation).
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS, Siemens NX or similar CAD tools.
- Experience with prototyping processes and materials.
- Experience with embedded systems and communication protocols.
- Experience in tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- 3+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering and with experience in Machine Design.
- Experience in Robotics and consumer electronic product design.
- Experience in power electronics and battery management programming.
- Familiarity with traditional mass production manufacturing processes, including injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal.
- Experience with automation equipment design and custom machine builds.
- Experience with simulation tools conducting finite element analysis: structural and modal.

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
