About the Role
The Security Engineering Tech Lead is responsible for both leading and delivering enterprise-level security engineering operations. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on execution to ensure the protection, resilience, and continuous improvement of Mattel’s cybersecurity ecosystem. The position oversees and contributes to initiatives across Endpoint Security, Event Logging and Monitoring, Digital Asset Protection, and Digital Forensics.
The Security Engineering Tech Lead drives delivery of secure and scalable engineering solutions, ensuring that endpoints, data protection, and event monitoring tools are effectively deployed, maintained, and optimized. The role requires deep expertise in endpoint detection and response (EDR), SIEM platforms, data protection, and forensic tooling, as well as a commitment to operational excellence, automation, and continuous modernization.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide direct technical leadership and operational delivery for Endpoint Security, Event Logging and Monitoring, Digital Asset Protection, and Digital Forensics programs.
Oversee endpoint security controls to ensure coverage, functionality, and compliance across all enterprise systems and platforms.
Lead configuration, tuning, and policy optimization of EDR, browser protection, and identity threat protection tools to improve detection efficacy and reduce false positives.
Manage and improve Data and Digital Asset Protection (DAP/RAP) programs, ensuring secure file transfer and data sharing practices.
Lead the Logging and Event Monitoring program, ensuring collection, parsing, and centralized management of all critical audit logs to support security investigations and compliance readiness.
Collaborate with the SOC and Digital forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) teams to perform forensic acquisitions, maintain forensic infrastructure, and support investigative workflows.
Ensure all security tools and agents operate within defined SLAs and maintain operational integrity.
Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and playbooks for all key security engineering workstreams.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure control effectiveness and operational health.
Stay current on emerging security technologies, frameworks, and best practices, and proactively recommend enhancements to strengthen Mattel’s security posture.
Support corporate audits (SOX, PCI, NIST CSF, etc.) through evidence collection and control validation.
Mentor engineers and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, delivery excellence, and continuous improvement.
Participate in after-hours or on-call rotations to support critical incidents or outages as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
7+ years of experience in Security Engineering or Security Event Analysis, including at least 5 years in a technical lead or senior engineering role.

Proven expertise with EDR, SIEM, and data protection tools.
Experience in engineering, tuning, and managing endpoint and cloud-based security tools and their supporting infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows, and macOS environments, including OS hardening and CIS benchmarks.
Deep understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework, event logging, and incident response processes.
Experience with DFIR, digital forensics, and data protection tools (e.g., Varonis, Cyberhaven, Proofpoint ITM, Magnet Forensics, EnCase, Cellebrite).
Familiarity with secure file transfer services and digital asset protection mechanisms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to conduct root cause analysis and drive effective remediation.
Ability to manage and mentor technical teams, prioritize work, and balance operational demands with strategic initiatives.
Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity (or equivalent experience).
Certifications such as GIAC (GCDA, GSEC), CySA+, CASP+, CompTIA Security+, or vendor-specific credentials (CrowdStrike, Splunk, Sumo Logic).
Experience with Insider Threat and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies (e.g., Forcepoint, Symantec, Proofpoint, Cyberhaven).
Familiarity with Intune, SCCM, or Jamf for endpoint management.
Advanced scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or API integrations.
Experience aligning security programs with frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and CIS Controls.
Strong project management skills and a demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical initiatives on time and within scope.
