The Team:

The Commercial Team leads the development and execution of Mattel Canada’s go-to-market strategy across national retail partners. The team is responsible for translating brand and category strategies into actionable plans that drive distribution, visibility, and performance at retail. Working closely with cross-functional partners, the team ensures alignment between customer needs, market dynamics, and internal priorities. Through strong commercial discipline and customer understanding, the team enables consistent, scalable growth across the business.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking a high-impact National Account Manager (internal title Associate Manager, National Accounts) to join Mattel Canada’s Commercial team. This role will be responsible for driving sustainable growth across a portfolio of national retail partners, leading both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of the business.

As a key member of the team, you will act as the voice of the customer internally while championing Mattel’s priorities externally—building strong, influential relationships and delivering best-in-class account management. You will lead joint business planning, identify growth opportunities, and collaborate cross-functionally to bring our iconic brands to life at retail.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Drive Business Growth: Deliver revenue, profit, and share growth across assigned accounts by identifying opportunities, expanding distribution, and executing strategic selling plans
  • Lead Joint Business Planning: Develop and execute annual and multi-year account plans aligned to both customer and Mattel objectives
  • Customer Leadership: Build and maintain strong, multi-level relationships with key stakeholders, positioning Mattel as a trusted partner of choice
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage POS, shipment, and market data to generate insights, inform forecasts, and guide strategic recommendations
  • Strategic Execution: Translate plans into action through effective promotional strategies, assortment planning, pricing, and in-store/online execution
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing, Demand Planning, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment and flawless execution
  • Forecasting & Planning: Own demand forecasting and inventory planning to optimize in-stock performance and minimize risk
  • Trade & Budget Management: Manage trade investment and O&A budgets with a strong focus on ROI and financial discipline
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee day-to-day account management including order management, item setup, reporting, and issue resolution
  • Business Reviews & Presentations: Lead regular customer meetings and internal reviews with clear insights, action plans, and follow-through
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify new ways to enhance performance, processes, and partnerships to unlock incremental growth

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of sales or account management experience in CPG, retail, or consumer goods; national account experience preferred
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and turning data into actionable insights
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and lead negotiations across multiple levels
  • Experience managing both brick-and-mortar and eCommerce channels; Experience in the toy or broader entertainment industry is an asset
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and adaptable in fast-paced environments; strong Excel and presentation skills
