IT Security Ops Specialist(Oracle Core -Database Administrator)

Job Description
Database Installation and Configuration: Installing, configuring, upgrading, and patching Oracle Database software, including major version upgrades and applying security patches (PSUs/CMPs).
Backup and Recovery (B&R): Designing, implementing, and managing robust backup and disaster recovery strategies using tools like Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Data Pump to ensure data protection and minimal downtime. Performing database restores and point-in-time recoveries as needed.
Performance Tuning: Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving database performance issues. This involves using tools like AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), ASH (Active Session History), and SQL Tuning Advisor to optimize SQL queries, database parameters, and indexing strategies.
Security Management: Implementing and maintaining database security, including managing users, roles, privileges, profiles, and ensuring compliance with security policies. This often includes implementing Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).
Storage and Capacity Planning: Allocating, managing, and optimizing database storage structures (tablespaces, data files) and planning for future storage and resource needs based on business growth.
High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR): Implementing and administering HA solutions such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Data Guard (Physical/Logical Standby) for maximum uptime and failover capability.
Routine Maintenance: Performing essential maintenance activities like indexing, space management, statistics gathering, and general database housekeeping.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving complex technical problems within the database environment, often in collaboration with application, operating system, and network teams.
Qualifications and Skills
Oracle Database Technologies
a. RMAN (Recovery Manager) for backup and recovery.
b. RAC (Real Application Clusters) and ASM (Automatic Storage Management).
c. Data Guard (Physical and Snapshot Standby).
d. Performance Tuning Tools (AWR, ASH, Explain Plans, SQL Trace).
e. Data Pump (Import/Export utility).
f. Oracle Database Architecture (memory structures, processes, storage components).
g. Knowledge of Oracle Multitenant Architecture (CDB/PDB) is increasingly critical.
Programming and Operating Systems
a. SQL (Structured Query Language) and PL/SQL for data manipulation and procedural programming.
b. Proficiency in Linux/UNIX operating systems and Shell Scripting for automation and administrative tasks.
Complete knowledge of ITIL.
Other Skills
a. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
b. Excellent communication skills for interacting with developers, management, and other technical teams.
c. Experience with cloud database services (e.g., Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, AWS RDS) is a growing asset.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator supporting production environments.
