Job Description
The Opportunity:
Mattel, Inc., a leading global play and family entertainment company, is seeking a Director Omnichannel Retail Marketing to lead the Target account. This strategic leader will drive omni-channel marketing retail strategy and activation for the account across all Mattel brands in close partnership with the Sales team.
This role will be located in our Headquarters in El Segundo, CA and will require occasional travel to the account.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Account Strategic Planning
- Use key shopper insights, syndicated data, customer data to identify emerging strategies & develop innovative solutions
- Develop long term strategic account plans in partnership with sales
- Creates in-year activation plan
- Ensures all major account promotional programs tie to brand tentpoles and priorities
- Manages team on deliverables for key product meetings with Customers: Spring/Fall/NY Toy Fairs
- Closely partners with sales on development and presentation of materials for key strategic account meetings: JBPs, Top to Tops, CP Executive Meetings
- Promotional Planning
- Leads team in the Strategy and activation of Retail Promotional Programs (based on insights and aligned to Mattel priorities) in partnership with Sales
- Manage team to strategize, pitch, track, execute, analyze all ads, features and key marketing investments (Catalogue, top toy, etc.)
- Manage team to maintain full year promotional calendars across brands
- Maintain post-mortems conducted by the team for future opportunities
- Differentiation
- Develop recommendations on future customized strategy based on analysis, insights, and retailer strategy
- Use customer and shopper insights to partner with National Marketing on the line selection and First to Market process
- Online Leadership and Merchandising
- Drive digital strategy for .com site
- Manage team to strategize, plan, execute online programs and presence
- Manage Retail Media relationship, lead Retail Media strategy, budget, account plans, analysis and optimization in partnership with our retail media agency
- Negotiate online brand presence and programs with retailer partners
- Budget Management
- Develop non-media plan by brand in partnership with sales, laddering up to National Marketing allocation
- Align on non-media brand allocation with NAD National leads
- Align on any cross brand or cross category shifts with NAD National leads
- Organizational alignment:
- Ensures that the retail marketing and sales teams are aligned with all other company departments in planning, communication, execution and corporate strategy.
- Acts as a communication bridge between Sales and Marketing.
- Interacts, builds relationships and plans with internal Customer functions such as: marketing, promotions, advertising, space planning.
- Works on alignment with the consumer product organization, supports licensing in-store executions and coordinates licensing interactions with Toy Buyers.
- Identifies and recommends new processes, tools and systems to improve work efficiencies.
- People Management:
- Manage omnichannel retail marketing account team
- Prioritize programs for the team throughout the year
- Mentor, coach and develop the team for future opportunities
- Share best practices across accounts

EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- MBA preferred
- 10-12 years’ experience in marketing, sales, trade marketing, category management, space planning, ecommerce, or consumer research.
- Excellent strategic thinking skills
- Expertise in Excel & PowerPoint Skills
- Experience working with Sales teams and Retailers on In-Store Marketing Programs, Ecommerce, and Account Planning.
- Proficient in retailer proprietary systems
- Experience in Managing a Shopper/Customer Marketing / ecommerce Teams
- Retail Media knowledge
*The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
