The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, technically skilled, and passionate about leveraging automation and AI to eliminate friction, optimise systems, and drive continuous improvement across all business functions.

We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion, therefore this role will ideally follow our hybrid work structure where employees work 2 days a week in the Manchester office. However, we can be flexible for the right person.

What you will be doing

  • Pioneer the Future of Work: You'll be the lead architect and developer for our low-code automation ecosystem (Make, n8n, Zapier), responsible for designing and building sophisticated, agentic workflows that eliminate inefficiencies across the entire company.
  • Drive Strategic AI Integration: Be at the forefront of innovation by researching, developing, and deploying cutting-edge AI technologies (Multi-Agent Systems, AI Copilots) directly into our operational workflows to enhance productivity and decision-making.
  • High-Impact Problem Solver: Move beyond simple automation by proactively investigating and permanently solving recurring, high-friction IT and operational issues with elegant, automated resolutions, directly impacting business performance.
  • Strategic Leadership Role: Collaborate closely with senior leadership to not just execute, but shape and define the enterprise automation and AI strategy, ensuring technology initiatives are directly aligned with core business goals.
  • Own the Tech Stack: Gain deep expertise in and control over a modern, powerful low-code/no-code stack, continually exploring new tools and methods to maximize efficiency and build internal AI-powered tools that give us a competitive edge.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing complex automations using platforms such as Make, n8n, or Zapier.
  • Strong technical proficiency in API integration, data mapping, and workflow logic design.
  • Practical experience or experimentation with AI technologies, particularly in building or deploying agentic systems or multi-agent architectures.
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and deliver automation-led process improvements.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of independently managing projects from concept to deployment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to connect operational pain points to broader business challenges.
