Description

  • Lead software engineer of the squad and influences the whole release train in innovation opportunities and technical direction.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers.
  • Develops component design and system/application architecture, sharing with other engineers to drive an effective approach.
  • Develops maintainable/scalable, effective, defect-free source code that meets business requirements and team standards.
  • Conducts automated test case development as well as drives overall automation strategy and coverage.
  • Leads Behavior Driven Development best practices and conversations to ensure a user-focused lens is considered when building software.
  • Identifies and implements appropriate continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Works directly with Product Owner to prioritize technical debt and cadence of features.
  • Contributes and influences technical alternatives considering future roadmap, Total Cost of Ownership, reusability, and flexibility in user needs.
  • This leader should be on the forefront of technical initiatives that drive the team and company forward while ensuring that business priorities are successfully released and continuously monitored.
  • Travel required up to 10%.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.
Qualifications
The position requires a bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Applied Computer Science, or a related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation. Employer will also accept a master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Applied Computer Science, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.

Position also requires demonstrable experience with each of the following:
  • Highly proficient in software engineering languages and tools with experience in AWS, Java, Python, Typescript, JavaScript (NodeJS, Angular, React), Java/J2EE Spring Boot, Docker, Microservices, and Git.
  • Experience with event architecture, specifically RabbitMQ and Kafka.
  • Diverse in technologies and new technical architecture principles and concepts, especially ways to scale flexibly for large data volumes.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts including NoSQL using Mongo Atlas and SQL using Azure SQL.
  • Drives continuous improvement activities related to Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Layered systems architectures solutions and designs and shared software concepts.
  • Understanding and teaching principles of functional and system integration testing including unit testing.
  • IT concepts, strategies, methodologies.
  • DevOps principles including CI/CD pipeline including strong experience with Bamboo and driving optimal configuration of CI/CD.
  • Leading Agile software development concepts and processes including development lifecycle, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Working with minimal requirements to perform technical analysis and complete work meeting business expectations.
  • Leading release readiness as well as change management.
  • Performing impact analysis and leading or delegating production support activities.
  • Making recommendations for design, defining design reasoning, and understanding potential impacts of design requirements.
  • Backlog tracking, influencing tech debt remediation, understanding burndown metrics, and promoting incremental delivery.
  • Travel required up to 10%.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 100%.
